Question about 2004 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

The "service engine soon" light on the dash came on and stayed on about the same time as a "gas cap loose" message came on on the info panel. The cap isnt loose and the car seems to run fine. I pulled the trouble code and it said " EEC system-slight leak." Not sure where this device is or how to service it. Can you help me?

The eec is the sensor for the evap system, either the gas cap is leakin or one of the hoses, the system is made to keep the gas tank at minus 1 lbs pressure, anything that disrupts this will send a message, could also be the fuel tank itself

Gascap message in mileage readout on dash. Engine light is on. What is the problem and how do I fix it. ??

The gas cap is either not on or improperly installed, remove the cap and reinstall it until it clicks when tightening. Read your owner's manual, the info is in there. If the light still stays on replace the gas cap.

Reset service engine soon light

You have a real auto repair shop ( not auto parts store) look at stored codes, & any freeze frame data
Do not clear the dash light or you loose data & ability
to diagnose & resolve the issue

How do you turn off the service engine soon light on panel

No , no joke ! a leaking gas cap can cause a code for the evaporative emissions system and turn on the check engine light . This EVAP system stores fuel vapors in a charcoal canister that the PCM - engine computer will purge at certain times . But that doesn't happen that much . Most of the time it is other componets That cause the leak ! Plus there are other thing's that will turn on the serviced engine soon light ! Your vehicle can set hundreds of DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . If the light is on there has to be codes stored or a problem with the instrument cluster . Your best bet take it to the dealer !

I have 2001 toyota sienna. while im driving the engine ligths indication on my dash board lights on. any body have an idea or same problem i have and do have a solution fix it thanks

hi,dear friend,
If the light comes on and stays on, the OBD system has detected a problem. Your vehicle might have a condition that wastes fuel, shortens engine life, or causes excessive air pollution. If left unaddressed, these conditions could also damage your vehicle and lead to increasingly expensive repairs. For example, OBD can identify a loose or missing gas cap (which wastes fuel and contributes to smog) or engine misfire (which can lead to severe or permanent engine damage).

There is no cause for panic. The vehicle is just telling you to seek attention soon. When you reach your destination, make sure the gas cap is not loose or missing. Always turn off your engine when refueling. If the light does not go out after a few short trips following gas cap replacement or tightening, have your vehicle serviced by a qualified repair technician soon! Delaying assistance could lead to more expensive damage.
hope help.

Hello: Without being there when the smoke test was performed no one can say what the results of the smoke test were. I would go back to the dealer and speak to the service director/service manager and request a new gas cap.

My service engine soon light was on. I took the vehicle to a mechanic and the code came back po422. A smoke check was performed and they said it had a leak in the filler neck and the entire gas tank needed...

If they forgot to tighten the hose clamps on the hose from the tank to the filler cap it could be setting it off. If they are all tight it was probably just the gas cap. The gas cap is usually ALWAYS the culprit. Let me know if this helps

'service engine soon' light comes on one day, then is off the next--no pattern-- no intake or liquid leaks found by mechanics?? Also, 'low coolant' light comes on now and then, no leaks found; not even...

The low coolant light could be caused by trapped air in the cooling system. If the mechanic didn't doa diagnostic scan, that needs to be done. Even though the service eng. light didn't stay on continuously, there could be stored codes in the computer.

Service engine soon

hi, this is just a reset issue. sometimes the CPU can become confused. the original warning that informed you about your gas cap is still in the cpu's memory. you will have to reset the cpu and, this will clear the warning. After the reset, it will stay off. chevy cpu's tend to do this from time to time.

Service Engine Soon

The light is on to alert U to the fact that a fault has occurred in the engine management system(s) or a part of the emission control system, there are over a 100 different problems that turn this light on, take the car to any Kragen auto parts,Auto Zone, Shukes etc and they will test the system for free, it could be as simple as a loose or defective gas cap seal, no way to tell until you give me the trouble codes.
