Sounds like you have a problem with the IAC or TPS. You;ll have to do more trouble shooting to narrow it down.

I have a 1998 ford f150 4x4 it is idling rough like it has a miss when you are driving down the road it kinda chugs untill you give it more gas then it quits till you let off the gas

You can get a free scan at Autozone or Oreillys and the onboard computer may have it recorded. Check your Intake manifold for Vacuum leaks with either a water spray bottle or approved choke cleaner(safe for plastics and rubber), then spray on a running engine. If the RPM changes fix the leak and it should help.

Your motor will run rough when the fuel mix is interrupted by a Vacuum leak. Then the Vacuum demands change while your foot is pressing on the pedal. It appears better on acceleration which masks the problem and returns the first time you let off the pedal.

I hope my solution is helpful for you.

I have a 2004 F150 with the 5.4 triton. The other day while driving on the highway with no warning it lost power and quit running. We have gone through the fuel system and have good fuel, other than...

Check if all your ignition coils are firing!! Typical issues are: Sputter/****/misfire under load (foot on gas pedal), stalls, no spark. On these 5.4L, moist and other fluids tend to short the coil out. This is caused by poor design of the coil boots.

Ford f150 2003 - engine stalls during start-up, only stays on if gas pedal is pressed during start.

It sounds like it is getting too much fuel. Holding down the gas does the opposite of what you may think, it shuts the fuel flow off on fuel injected cars. You may have a leaking fuel injector or a bad fuel pressure regulator.
