Check this procedure for the Power Door Lock Actuator... Door (see Figures 6 and 7) Fig. 6: Power lock actuator mounting-front door Fig. 7: Power lock actuator mounting-rear door Position the window glass in the up position. Remove the front or rear door latch assembly. Remove the door ajar switch from the door latch assembly. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, gently pry up the locking tab and slide the power door latch actuator off the door latch. To install: The power door latch actuator must be installed BEFORE the door ajar switch is installed. Engage one end of the adjunct power door latch actuator to the channel on the door latch. Press down on the actuator to engage the other end of the actuator to its channel on the door latch. Slide the actuator onto the door latch, while making sure that the pin on the actuator engages through the yellow bushing on the arm of the latch properly, until the actuator clicks into place. The balance of the installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the door latch retaining screws to 89-123 inch lbs.(10-14 Nm). Hope helped with this.

    Sorry...

Fig. 6: Power lock actuator mounting-front door

Fig. 7: Power lock actuator mounting-rear door

Here are the locations of the pillars. The
one between the windshield and the front door is the "A" pillar,
between the front and rear door is the "B" pillar and so on. On vehicles
without rear doors, the "D" pillar becomes the "C" pillar.

    The door
ajar switch is integrated into the door latch. This means you will need to
remove the door latch to replace it if adjusting the door doesn't work.

    The door
adjustment, in this case, is done with the striker plate attached to the
"B" pillar. It can be tricky and the two or three screws holding the
striker plate are very tight. I think your best bet is to let a body
    shop make the adjustment.

    Good luck.

Electric latch on the rear Hatch door will not unlock

I guess ford was trying to make a couple more bucks by not putting key locks on all doors. Anyway, if you crawl inside and pop the small cover(about 2"x2") off the inside of the hatch where the latch is located you can reach in with a screwdriver and manually move control arms. The lever on the back/far side of assembly is in the locked position, you need to move to the opposite side left or right of it's current position, this will unlock the latch and should allow you to open the door. You mave have to pop acutor arm loose to move it. My problem ended up being the outside cover {license plate frame)seal had been damaged by a ford mechanic, that or it was defective. Water got in and damaged the the lock acuator. Had to replace entire assembly as ford does'nt offer just the acuator. Sealed the outside cover with clear silione.

98 ford taurus wgn se door ajar light wont go out

The switches that activates the door ajar are located on the body frame. For front doors try looking between the hinges, on the frame of the body cavity. Might have a rubber grommet around it. On the back doors, look on the frame of the body cavity near the hinges.

I would follow their recommendation as I had the same problem with my car. They unhooked the power to that door and it was fine. The problem was a short in the wiring in the door that was causing the problem. So maybe get them to check the wiring in the door as well.
