Question about 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

Fan Blower Makes noise

The fan in my Pontiac Grand Prix makes a squeeling noise and then stops blowing air. Whenever I turn the fan switch to increase the air flow, the fan will blow air for a few minutes then it starts to squeel and then stops blowing. I can turn the fan off and back on and the same thing happens-it runs for a while then starts to sgueel and stops blowing air. It's as if the fan is hitting against something and then stops.

Sounds like the fan needs to be replaced. But first, to check for obstructions, remove the carpet liner from the underside of the dash on the passenger side and you'll see the blower motor under the dash held in with three screws. If there's something obvious blocking it, remove it and reinstall the fan. If there's nothing blocking it, then you'll probably need to replace the fan. Any auto parts store, Rockauto.com or E-Bay will have the correct fan for your Grand Prix.

Ac makes whining noise on a 2004 Pontiac grand prix

Is the whining noise coming from the engine compartment where the compressor is located or is the noise coming from inside the car? If the noise if coming from inside the car it could be your blower. When a blower wears down the bushing is the first thing to wear down and it begins to have play. That makes the blower/fan vibrate making a loud whining noise. Replacing the blower could solve that whining noise.
If the noise if coming from the AC compressor, it also could be a bad bearing within the compressor.

I have a 2007 pontiac grand prix and my a/c went compleatly out its not blowing out anything why

Either the fan motor is bad, something is jammed in the motor housing, a/c fan relay is bad, or the cluster that controls the climate control is unplugged or bad.

My heater does not blow any air out at all

You should first check the fuse, followed by checking the fan relay and fan switch, if you are able to use a volt/ohm meter, simply chase the circuit and test each component.

My ac/heat in 97 grand prix does not work. before it stoped working, it made a loud noise when ever I turned it on as though the fan was rubbing against something. now it does noyhing at all. what could...

If it's just not blowing the blower could have worn out or something such as a mouse could have gotten in the fan and stopped it.
If the line on the compressor is getting cold then the compressor is working.

My heater fan was making noise but was still blowing the hot air out. Now it makes no noise but blows no air out. I assume the fan/blower motor is bad. How do I replace it?

your blower mototr stopped turning , the noise you heard was one of the cage weights came loose and put the blower cage off ballance, first you need to locate the blower fan and check to make sure it has 12 volts, if so then you need to use a jumper wire to ground the other wire going into the blower motor, if this turns the blower motor on then you have a blower motor resister out and need to replace it.
