Question about 1998 Lincoln Continental
Lyes44 answer is not accurate. Several owners, including myself, have reported the factory alarm going off often, for no apparent reason (horn sounding and lights flashing). The closest answer I have seen is that the trunk tab gets misaligned (somewhere near the latch I suppose) and the trunk does not get closed properly...there is some sort of tab that is bent or something of that sort. This supposedly happens from constant popping-open of the trunk by the remote button or perhaps the button on the drivers door. I have not check this all out yet and so I cannot tell you how to properly repair it yet. Maybe someone who knows will write here and tell us.

If its an aftermarket alarm, which im sure it is, find the brain to the aftermarket alarm and unhook it. trace the brain back from the car alarm siren hardware. it shoud b mounted somewhere under the hood. theres not a lot of available space in the engine compartment. so you should easily find the siren hardware. trace the wiring back to the brain and disconnect it. it cant be factory alarm. factory alarm only goes off when u dont use keyless remote or key to unlock a locked door or trunk. factory alarm blows horn and blinks parking lights
