Vapor lock when the engine is runnig. How do I fix this issue

"Vapor lock" is a condition that occurs when fuel becomes heated to the point of evaporation. If your vehicle is truly vapor locking, it means that something hot is coming in contact with your fuel line somewhere, overheating the gasoline to the point of it vaporizing. This is HIGHLY UNLIKELY. If you truly do have a vapor lock condition, find out where the fuel is becoming heated and fix that condition.

Ford escort wagon 1997 code p1443 displayed. what does this indicate & where is the cannister? thank you.

P1443 - EVAP Control System / Vacuum System Purge Control Solenoid Or Purge Control Valve Fault. A fuel tank pressure change greater than minus (-) 7 inches of water in 30 seconds occurred with a purge (fuel vapor) flow at less than 0.02 pounds per minute.

Possible Causes:
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the FTP sensor.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the engine intake manifold.
  • Blocked vacuum hose between the EVAP canister purge valve solenoid and the engine intake manifold.
  • EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed (mechanically).

  • Possible Solution:
Check for blockages between the fuel tank, the EVAP canister purge valve, and the engine intake manifold. Check for obstructions in the EVAP canister purge valve diaphragm and ports.

The canister is on the passengers side near the firewall if I recall correctly.

    Obd-2 code p1455

DTC P1455 - Substantial Leak or Blockage in Evaporative Emission Control System

The PCM monitors the complete EVAP control system for no purge flow, the presence of a large fuel vapor leak or multiple small fuel vapor leaks. The system failure occurs when no purge flow (attributed to fuel vapor blockages or restrictions), a large fuel vapor leak or multiple fuel vapor leaks are detected by the EVAP running loss monitor test with the engine running (but not at idle).

    Check this possible causes:
After-market EVAP hardware (such as fuel filler cap) non-conforming to required specifications
Disconnected or cracked fuel EVAP canister tube, EVAP canister purge outlet tube or EVAP return tube
EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed
    Damaged EVAP canister
Damaged or missing fuel filler cap
    Insufficient fuel filler cap installation
Loose fuel vapor hose/tube connections to EVAP system components
Blockages or restrictions in fuel vapor hoses/tubes (items also listed under disconnections or cracks)
Fuel vapor control valve tube assembly or fuel vapor vent valve assembly blocked
Canister vent (CV) solenoid stuck open
Mechanically inoperative fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor

Check for audible vacuum noise or significant fuel odor in the engine compartment or near the EVAP canister and fuel tank

Im getting a P0441 EVAP emission control system purge flow fault code on my 2002 dodge neon

Here is what I could find for your code error as potential causes:
After market parts and accessories nonconforming to the EVAP system specifications.
Damaged, missing or improperly installed fuel filler cap.
Blockage in fuel vapor hoses/tubes (EVAP canister tube, EVAP canister purge outlet tube or EVAP return tube) in EVAP system.
Disconnected or cracked fuel vapor hoses/tubes in EVAP system.
EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed.
Canister vent (CV) solenoid stuck open.
Fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor malfunction.
    EVAP canister leaking.
Fuel vapor control valve tube assembly blocked.
Fuel vapor vent valve assembly blocked.

Obviously the gas cap would be the easiest and cheapest thing to fix.  Just make sure it is put on correctly and tight.  If it is not that, I would have to suggest to take it to a mechanic because the other problems on that list are not really DIY material.  Hopefully it is the gas cap and you can take care of it yourself.  Good luck.

    Code 0440

    P0440 onepx.gif EVAP Control System Malfunction onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif Possible Causes onepx.gif Setting Conditions onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif
    • Charcoal canister is clogged, loaded with fuel or with moisture
    • Fuel filler cap missing, loose (not tightened) or the wrong part
    • Fuel tank over-fill check valve cracked or damaged
    • Fuel tank seal leaking, fuel tank cracked or damaged/leaking
    • Fuel vapor hoses/tubes blocked or restricted, or fuel vapor control valve tube or fuel vapor vent valve assembly blocked
    • Vacuum hose or tubing cracked, damaged or disconnected
    • Vapor Pressure sensor incorrectly installed
    • PCM has failed
onepx.gif Engine started cold (ECT sensor signal less 86F), engine runtime over 20 minutes in closed loop, vehicle driven to a speed of 55-60 mph, and the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure indicated the same value as the atmospheric pressure in the EVAP Monitor test.
This code sets in 2 Trip(s).First I would try making sure the gas cap is tight. You need to give it 2 trips before it may reset. The other choice would be to replace it, Cheaper than spending money on a professional.
