Question about 2002 Land Rover Freelander

1 Answer

Start problems, V6 Freelander 01 (sometimes!)

The startmotor/motor runs whitout any problem, but it would not start! After a short while(varies!) the damn thing starts perfect! Seems that something is shut of (imobilizer/fuel/ign.?) happens sometime whitout any type of warning.
Any clue?

Hi! Immobilizer, fuel pump and ignition switch got nothing to do with it. I do believe that the starter is faulty. The solenoid may be worn and needs replacement. Used to work on one and replace the solenoid and everything worked out fine. Hope this shed some light.

Hi! Sorry for my English, I am Swedish!

I did not explained the problem god enough, the starter is not the problem!

The starter allways runs well, so it seems to be something shut of, this problem occure just suddenly. Drive for 200 Km stop the car...shopping....start the car ok...stop at the gas station... start the car...will not start....wait eg. 4 hours start ok. sometimes we just have to wait 30 minutes, sometimes my wife is angry, i pick her up and the damn car have to be picked up another day.... but it allways start when i pick it up! By the way..you can hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key!

HI! Try to check the ignition coil when it stall. If the ignition coil is hot, the car tends to stall. You will need to replace the coil for its faulty. Tell me how it goes. Take care!

Clicking noise when no start

your start motor is not rotating, means battery is empty or your start motor bendix is broken and cant rotate your motor then. Let somebody start your car and hit with a hammer on the startmotor, when bendix comes out and car start you need to replace bendix.

Starter motor is on the way out. There is no return when they start clicking. Replace is most likely required. Just go second hand. Cant help with manuals sorry.

2001 v6 ford mustang. when i try to start it it cranks like it wants to start but it wont, it just started doing that more consistent

Well, I have an 01 V6 Mustang as well. I am having the same problem. It is an intermittant problem with the PATS system. What i normally do is to disconnect the battery and let it sit. Sometimes it takes a few hours, sometimes overnight. I am actually on my way to have a remote start unit installed. The remote start unit will include a PATS bypass module. I will return to let you know how it works.....

Intermittent starting problem landrover freelander 01 v6 2.5 mode

Hi,
Judging by the problem you have a 1.8 petrol engine?,if it is they used to over fuel on start up ,you can try changing the engine coolant temp sensor as this is the usual cause ,if not then some more info on the vehicle would be usefull.

Freelander wont start

it's a starter motor problem, the solenoid contact inside the starter
is dirty give it a good cleanup with a sand paper and it should be fine. I have the same starting problem, I just cleanup the copper contacts and presto! starts in one click. or you can buy a starter
copper contact from under $12 from ebayUK go to freelander starter motor.
