1978 corvette factory timing recommendation is 6 degrees...want to increase performance by advining timing to 12-14 degrees?

Hello, my name is Ben. If you go that far, you will most likely create a "no start" condition. You can try 8-10 degrees at the most. Be sure to take your wrenches with you on your test drive, since too much advance will keep the engine from re-starting. Too much advance can also cause backfires, which can lead to other problems.

0603 is June 3rd
CHW is a 1975 4bbl 155 hp Chevelle or 1978 4bbl 185 hp Corvette

This car didn't come with a factory alarm as far as I know, so look under the dash for the added system wiring and model and disconnect it.

Timing and fireing order for 1978 305


Chevy 1978- 305 engine, Bank #1, from front to back is 1-3-5-7 Bank #2, from front to back is 2-4-6-8. The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Distributor rotation is clockwise. 8 degrees BTDC.You should always use the under the hood sticker for the propper settings and how to proceed. Torque specs on 93 corvette rod bolts lt1 engine


from the service manual.
Connecting rod nuts, tighten evenly to 20 ft pounds then turn another 55 degrees of rotation, seems odd but i have the factory manual
