Question about Hyundai Motor 2002 Sonata

Open Question

2002 Hyundai Sonata, 140K, 4cyl, DOHC, started having no pickup when easing on the gas. If I punched the gas petal, rpms went up and car moved. Same on Highway. Could get up to high speed by punching down on petal, but seemd like no gas when easing normally on petal. Replaced the air filter, no help; Put in some injector cleaner and got on the highway to rev motor hoping to clean out system. Same problem. Got off highway and car died, Will not start now. Turns over but will not start. Could this be fuel filter?. pump?

SOURCE: 2001 hyundai sonata 2.4 dohc, cylinder 3 misfire code

tried testing the igniter also i would look into the injector, that will cause a single cylinder misfire and probably is your problem?misfires are not noticeable at higher speeds, which im sure you know but i would go that route, could have a pinched injector or a stuck one. one easy way to test is swap 3rd injector with another and see if that one starts misfiring instead, another rought is to get a cheap auto stethoscope and put it to each injector to hear if its opening and closing, compare with others. good luck.

2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 140k occasionally will not start, now struggles to start.

I would start by testing the vehicles main Earth cables under the bonnet. Could be high resistance caused by failing cable. Jon

I have 2000 hyundai sonata, 4cyl...bought 6 mos ago..i noticed the rpm's go all the way to 3 when on highway...and transmission delays to switch gears....will i have transmission problems. pleae tell me...

You may need to have your transmission serviced. That would be a filter and fluid change. Any fast lube place can do that for you. I should think that if there was a problem with the transmission, the check engine light would come on. 3000 rpms does seem a bit high for the highway. Of course, you did not say how fast you were going. My wife tends to have a heavy foot in our 07 Elantra. She keeps the rpms up there around 2500rpm. That's about 80mph. My sincere condolences for your loss. God Bless.
