Two ways to do it. You can get a new one at the Dealer ($$$'s), or a universal replacement at Pep Boys and maybe Autozone (at least in my area) or you can try what I did. Take the remote apart like you would be replacing the battery. Find an area that is clear from the circuit board underneath. On mine it was right near were the ring used to attach. Drill a small hole through this clear area (have to drill both halfs, Insert a new ring and your done.

My doors are locked and the remote is not working. What can I do?

call a dealer , quite possibly your battery is dead and door locks are electric

My key will go into lock but wont turn tumblers in either door keychain remote will also not respond even to unlock trunk although batteries are good nothing is frozen

Suggest you lubricate locks with some lock lube available at auto or hardware stores; use WD-40 if regular lock lube is not available. Hold a paper towel under the lock hole and insert the tube into the lock and give it a short squirt. Then insert the key and slowly try and turn it back and forth to see if it will turn. Could be frozen up due to dirt or simply full of dirt. Or, someone could have squirted super glue in your locks. (That is not unheard of!) How old is the battery in your remote? If it is over 6 months old replace it. You can buy replacements at most drugstores or radio shacks for a few bucks. Also, if you have an aftermarket alarm with door opening capabilities, you might want to pull the fuse and wait a few minutes and then reinstall it. Those syetems sometimes have some sort of charge that builds up and won't let the remote communicate with the receiver. Removing the fuse and replacing it seems to allow the charge to drain and everything gets back to normal.

Hope something here helps!

Doors wont lock or unlock, trunk wont open and remote wont do any good, fuses ok.

Will the switch on the door lock or unlock the doors, if so check the battery in your remote, it may be dead. Remove the key remote from your keychain and there is a slot in the end of the remote that will open it up so you can gain access to your battery. Pay close attention to the way the battery is installed before removing it. Replace the battery and try the door locks again. If they work, then you have solved the problem. If not, you have an electrical problem that you will have to trace down. From the information you have given, this is all I can tell you without seeing the car for myself.

I wish you luck, I hope this helps you find the problem.

Some of my doors will lock and unloc by remote and som will not how do I fix this

do they work when using the master switch on the drivers door panel? if only the drivers door unlocks when pressing the button, it may be a personal setting change needed. in this case usually pushing the unlock button on the remote twice will then unlock all doors. if there is only one lock that doesn't work it is most likely the door lock actuator that is at fault or a broken wire in the door opening wiring harness of the door that the lock does not work on.

lock with key, electric door lock button,or remote and alarm will set. to disarm you have to use the key or remote to open it.the reason it woulnt disarm from drivers door is either the door lock cylinder switch is broken or the wire to it in the rubber boot that connects the door and the body is broken.
the remotes are cheap and programing is easy, procedure in owners manuel something like lock drive door with elkect. lock switch with door open then push and hold unlock untill doors unlock then turn key off.you may have to fix that drive door lock cyl.switch first though mabee not dont know for sure

I have a 99 chevy tahoe that will not lock the doors unless I use the keychain remote or puch each lock down, same with unlocking. The lock button on both the driveside and passenger side do not work. Also...

With regards to the lock bittons on the driver and passenger side its the button themselves aka switch(s) that is your culprit. Why because the remote is getting the motor to open and close them . The only thing that doesn't is the buttons /switches themselves .
Now the rear latch a little different animal. Either the locking mechanism on the door itself is defective or the motor ( the thing you hear clicking) is weak.
This one your gonna need a shop manual for to do the correct testing. But being that te remote will not move it and neither will the manual push button I would lean towards the locking mechanism on the hatch/door its self. Use the shop manual its not that bad of a fix if you have a little patience.
