How do I replace a door latch on ford explorer

Look for screws hidden by plastic push in covers on the trim panel. Take them out, then slap the trim upward, off the clips, which are part of the panel Carefully pull down the plastic water shield Remove the rod from the latch,( usually a plastic linkage clip holds it.) The latch usually has two 10mm bolts holding it.

What steps do I have to take to replace the (sliding hide away door that covers the drink holder). This sliding hide away door is between the driver and the passenger seats on my 2005 Acura TL

I don't believe this part is available aftermarket, only from Acura. Part # 77230-SEP-A02ZA $93.17. It isn't hard to replace. First you pry up left and right chrome side trims on the console. Start at the back, they are held on with clips, be gentle but firm, don't flex the trim. A plastic trim tool helps. Once you've done 1, they are easy. Then it is just screws holding the rear section, slide both seats all the way forward to help lift out console. Go to Acura E Parts to see an exploded view.

Need change turn signal switch in 98

Okay, The plastic cover on the steering column has to come off to expose the inner parts. Sometimes the chrome lock trim on the Ignition key has to come off if the ignition trim prevents removal of the column cover.

The Ignition trim has a spring lock release through one of the openings in the bottom of the column cover and it needs to be pressed to release the Ignition trim and lock cylinder. Best to disconnect your battery.

Once the column cover is off it is pretty much straight forward. Be careful when prying the plastic clips on the wiring harness. The clips secure the wiring loom to the turn signal and you can only tape the connector back in place if the retaining clips are broken from the wire loom.

There may be odd shaped nuts holding the turn signal assembly to the column. If so, these are called Security screws. The oddball shapes need mating shaped bits to match them and allow for extraction. Harbor Freight and online suppliers have these bits in kits which have more than 50 different fixtures.

Once you remove your part, just make sure it seats securely to the column mounts and then reassemble all you have taken off. The column cover has snaps on the mating edges which help hold the cover in place and align the mounting holes for the cover.

Reconnect your battery and you are done.

How do I change my top-center brake light bulb?

Just open the hatch, locate the middle plastic trim strip on top of the window behind the 3rd light, and gently pull it out from the clips holding it on. I pulled from the top. Be careful not to damage the metal clips or the plastic pieces behind the trim that go into the clips. There is a clip towards the left side and one towards the right.

Locate the bulb holder and twist it a quarter turn counter-clockwise and pull it out. Take out the old bulb, put in the new, reinsert the bulb and holder, twist clockwise.

Line up the clips with the plastic inserts inside the trim strip and push on. You may have to give it a couple of strategic whacks with the bottom of your fist to get everything to snap in tight.

How to change shifter light on floor center console, ive removed the main bolts from the rear of console and the brass fittings inside the center compartment but can not get it to move, ive also tried the...

The shift indicator light is under the plastic trim panel on the center console.

Open the lid to the console, and the latch location, you will see the separation. Use a plastic trim tool in here, or along the sides.
The silver color where the cup holders are at is all 1 part, and comes out together. The shift indication scale stays with the shifter ( the chrome trim stays with the shifter as well ).
The spring clips can be tough to pop the 1st time. Best to use a plastic trim tool or if you do not have that, a plastic putty knife.

Can't take off the door panels to fix window.

Hello Nufo :

I like to start by having a large piece of cardboard labeled for the door panel that i am removing . I use the cardboard to put all of the screws that are removed for easy reassembly .

You will need basic tolols like a phillips head screwdriver and blade screwdriver . If the are magnetic that would be a plus . you will also need special tools like a " Door Panel Trim removal tool /set " Or a " Trim Removal tool Set " . Or Panel clip removal Pliers

You will jave to remove the screws holding the armrest and power window switch(s) . You will also have to remove the screws holding the chrome like plastic of the interior door opener ( it looks a little square )

Also remove the screw on - door button/ usually " chrome looking " that goes up and down when you pull the door opener .

Once all of the screws are removed . I would check again and there is usually 1 or 2 more that you didn't see at first .

I would then disconnect the wiring for the window /power door lock switches .

Using the special tools listed above you will use the " Trim removal tool to remove the " clips " which are holding the panel to the door . The clips are located near the outer enge of the door panel every couple of inches .. Follow the instructions that come with the trim removal tools and pull gently .

Chances are 1 or more clips might break bue to their age and possible crystalization .

Lastly with all clips removed , You will have to lift the door panel up. Lift from the bottom up because it has a lip on top that is sitting on a seal like lip . It wouldn't be a bad idea to use a pair of jersy gloves when working on car doors .

Good Luck and I hope that this info has been of help to you .
