You stated the air conditioner was not working. Do you mean the it doesn't work at all (no fan, vent, or temp control) or do you mean you hear the fan but the air doesn't blow out of the correct vent? Vacuum related issue would cause this. Finding a cracked line can be difficult but here are some tips. While the engine is running listen for a hissing sound under the hood (and even inside the cabin). Most times you can locate it by doing this and isolating the sound to one specific area . All your vacuum lines attach to the intake manifold for the vacuum source. Usually rubber hoses, but may be hard plastic too. Second thing to try is to use WD-40 with the red straw. It is flammable so you don;t want to spray it all over a red hot exhaust manifold. Identify where the hoses attach to the manifold and give a little shot of the WD-40 at these conncetions while the engine is running. You will hear the engine speed up slightly when you are spraying at the crack or broken line. Only large vacuum line goes to the master cylinder booster and it that was broken or disconnected the engine would be running like s**t. Good luck,

Hi!
Check your vacuum hoses for broken, cracked or loose connections. Attach a Fuel Pump Pressure Tester to the service port on the fuel injector rail and monitor fuel pump pressure specially when engine is losing power. If CHECK ENGINE light is on, perform a DTC scan. Autozone, Checkers or similar Auto Parts stores perform this service FREE of charge.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL Rating would be greatly appreciated

The engine light (Malfunction Indicator Lamp of the On-board Diagnostic System) came on in my 2003 VW Jetta 2.0. It came on at 60,000 miles then went off. It's now at 64,000 miles and came on again. What...

many auto parts stores will check your computer to see what caused the lamp to be on ... often its just the gas cap not sealed good .. check for cracked rubber or rust .. they pull a slight vacuum in the tank for polution control and if the gas cap leaks air then that flags an error ... other things that often cause intermittant lamp on .. is the oxygen sensor .. that always gets worse with time but can be marginal for awhile... vacuum leaks like cracked vacuum hoses can trigger the alarm (frequent in VWs)(there is a vacuum hose kit available) .. any sensor that is monitored by the computer can cause the problem and that will be narrowed down by the computer test . check all fluid levels including brake fluid ..

Check engine light on and will not go off went

if its code p0442 the most common problem is gas cap unless they reset the code for u the vehicle has to cycle- start up a few times or reset after certain amount of miles are driven--but-- this code also can b a cracked, broken,or disconnected vent line,go back to auto zone have them rescan and check for code and have them reset the trouble code if it comes back on than a problem still is present

2000 Ford Winstar stalls while idling but vacuum hose removal causes it to run fine...why? How do I fix this problem as ford dealer wants to run a diagnostic and we did it before and all I got was a bill?

If the car runs fine when you remove the vacuum hose, the odds are there's an issue with the hose itself. The hose could be cracked, or partially blocked. easiest fix would be to replace the hose and see what happens.

Check engine light is on...

I am not going to lie, I came across this in another forum a while back and I would love to retype it and interpret it here but it is too much. I looked at it and verified that the information here is information that could be found through my scan tools so here it is!

P0440
The fuel tankmag-glass_10x10.gif pressure is atmospheric pressure after the vehicle is driven for 20 min (2 trip detection logic).

Possible Problems
Fuel tank cap incorrectly installed <= Most common
Fuel tank cap cracked or damaged (Toyota part only)
Bad vapor pressure sensor/circuit
Vacuum hose cracked, holed, blocked, damaged or disconnected
Hose or tube cracked, holed, damaged, or loose
Fuel tank/filler neck cracked, holed, or damaged
Charcoal canister cracked, holed, or damaged (collision)

In above description, check hoses between vapor pressur sensor and VSV for vapor pressure sensor and charcoal canister. Also, hose between charcoal canister and fuel tank.

2002 saturn sl1 idle too high

Can be but also check and make sure there are NO vacuum leaks or broken vacuum hoses anywhere on intake. I would also suggest if engine light is on is to take this vehicle to an AUTO ZONE they will check by computer for this problem and let you know for FREE. When you get the code I would be more than glad to help you further. Don't guess you may be wasting money and time. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
