I had one do same thing it ended up being that there was a small hole in the heater hose that was just a drip every know and then it was enough to short out the coil pack so you may want to get it warm and watch the hose very good you might find the problem hope this helps

2002 envoy slt cylinder 6 misfire. How can I fix it

It is very common for the coils to go bad on these. If the engine is running rough than it should be fairly easy to swap the number 6 coil with another cylinders coil and see if the misfire follows. If it does than replace the coil and maybe check the spark plugs for replacement.

Po304

Usar Google Translator para eso.....Try switching out #4 sparkplug first. If P0304 still exists, try switching coils to a different cylinder and see if the misfire follows the bad coil. Chances are it's a coil. #1 Cylinder is nearest to the radiator, #6 in order is at the firewall. Buenas suerte!

2002 Envoy sle 4.2 L straight 6. Random misfire(PO300). After erasing codes for several days, I finally took my car on the highway and ran it at high speed(70+) for about 4 to 5 miles. Check engine light came on as before but this time it gave me(PO305). Random misfire cylinder 5. So I switched coil 5 with coil 2. Went back out on the highway and repeated as before. This time it gave me(PO302). This was telling me I had a bad coil. Replacing one coil pack solved the problem. The professionals told me low fuel pressure would not give me random misfire, but rather a O2 code because the engine is running lean. Thank you------------------------------------ thank you very much.

There can be other reasons for misfires beside spark plugs/coil, such as a bad injector, low compression in that cylinder, burnt valve seats.

P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected

When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

When is the code detected?
- Engine Cylinder #5 and #6 is Misfiring.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/loss of power
- Hard start
- Engine hesitation

Possible Causes:
- Improper spark plug at cylinder #5 and #6
- Insufficient compression at cylinder #5 and #6
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- The injector circuit is open or shorted at cylinder #5 and #6
- Fuel injector #5 and #6 may be faulty
- Intake air leak at cyli

Possible Solution:
- Perform Injector Service
- Replaced Spark Plug #5 and #6
- Replaced Injector #5 and #6
- Replaced Ignition Coil #5 and #6

Hope helps.

#1 misfire swapped out coil from another cyl did tune up still comes up #1 misfire

have you tested the coil with an external sparkplug? This also may indicate fuel injector leak/not working....test electrical connectors for the coil and fuel injector to determine which is faulty. This misfire could also be caused by faulty cam/crank sensors. Hopefully this helps....post additional info if you need additional help!!
