Depends, qualified mech should have it done within 45 min or less. the D.I.Y will take longer if you are not used to doing things like that, its a pain but it can be done quickly if everything works out and having the right tools

It should have a plastic cover on it. It will look like a valve stem for a tire inside (Schrader valve). You want the high side.

The clutch on my air conditioner is not engaging, I checked fuses in the fuse box and under the hood, I suspect a fusible link that would control the current going to the air conditioner, where would

There are cycle sensors on the low and high pressure side of the A/C. They will keep the A/C pump from getting any current if pressure is to low. You can jump the sensors to see if the pump will come on. If it does come on you might have to charge the system or need a sensor. You need to recover the freon to change the sensors. A certified A/C mech. Needs to do it.

Would a 97 cavalier fuel pump fit in a 2002 cavalier?

No. If you look up the part numbers on those 2 vehicles, you will find that the fuel pump part numbers are completely different. The 2002 Cavalier is most likely equipped with an EcoTec engine which did not exist in 1997. - Totally different specifications.

While driving my 1997 cavalier on the interstate last week, I was going uphill and I felt less power than usual. Then I saw a cloud of black smoke behind me. This has happened 3 times. I do not lose power...

Start with checking the air filter. The black smoke means to mutch fuel and not enought air.You may want to clean your Mass Air Flow sensor as well. The have spray cans of MAF cleaner at any auto parts store and you should clean it with every air filter change.Just be sure to unplug harness before you spray it.Well good luck and hope this helps.

Why did the can of R134 freeze when I charged the air conditioner on my 97 Chevy Cavalier? The low side line to my air conditioner (where i hooked up the can of r134) froze as well and my air conditioner...

History?was it working before? you cant just hook up a hose and put it in. First find out why compressor wont run, If it needs compressor, it needs a drier and orifice tube, put on a vaccuum pump for 1 hr then recharged with the correct amount of r134. You need someone who knows a/c to look at it.

When I turn off the motor I hear a whining noise. Is this the fan motor?

You might have to change your fan belts or adjust them tighter. You should have two belts one for the air conditioner and the other for the fan for the radiator, change them I hope this helps.
