Car will not start, it is totally dead, no lights, no power windows, no radio, NOTHING electrical, in spite of the battery being practically new

I just got through talking to a friend who had the same problem and his situation was corrected for him by replacing a blown fuse---this seams like a more plausible solution than the one that was offered by your expert, i would still like to hear from other "experts" before i go off "half cocked" and try anything---thanks

Take the battery out and put it on a overnight battery charger and then reinstall it after you know that it is 100% fully charged. If your car still don't start then the Automatic ShutDown Relay (ASD) could be the cause. This relay is usually mounted on the firewall or found in the power distribution center under the hood. Unplug it and replace it and everything should work perfect again.

A relay is a fuse, it is just bigger in size. Check all of your fuses located underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Pull them out, one by one, and see if they are burned or blown out. Replace any fuses that are not good

Charge your battery, then start your car. after this take off your positive connection on your battery (with the car running) and if it dies then you need to replace the alternator. If it stays running with the cable off then your alternator is fine. If it is fine take your car to autozone and have them test the battery they will do this for free. If the battery and the alternator are fine then you left something on to kill the battery all the way. maybe an interior light or something. good luck

before you go and totally throw my opinion out try my solution, its process of elimination without being infront of your car any solution is a good solution. i mean jumping your car to get it started and pulling one wire isnt a difficult thing to do.

Lost power steering, car died, changed battery, and barley made it home. The battery has power, but when you turn the key on the dome light and other lights, radio, windows, etc don't work.

Sounds like the vehicle is not charging you may need a new alternator get the car going with jump leads again and test the voltage at the battery terminals with a DC volt meter expect 13.5-14.5 if you get less than 13.5 your alternator is bad or wiring fault also check the alternator belt is tight.

Have no electrical power

Someone will need to check the fuses and fuseable links (if equipped) to see what is dead and why. Could be a fuse or a bad connection at the battery or fuse box.

1993 miata 5 speed engine will not turn over at all, enngine not seized battery new, starter new, lights good, but get nothing when key is turned

What you state is true invest in a new electrical ignition switch that runs off the key cylinder to run power to the starters solenoid. When they go bad the car is totally dead sometimes such as yours. Some will go bad to the starter although other functions may work such as the radio, heater fan, and so on. If your headlights and brake lights work the switch is what you need for the ignition

2001 Saturn SC2 Electrical issue

I had the same problem in a 1997 SC2.  Turns out that finicky/broken door lock/unlock switches were causing an intermittent short.
I removed the 20A fuses to these locks in the switch panel under the radio.  Problem fixed.
