There is 2 types of a/c lines one large one small find the large one and follow it. Places to check are near the fire wall, near the compressor, behind the grill or near the radiator.

What is the correct pressure for freon in AC unit and what is the color of the cap where you add the freon?????

The charging port cap is usually blue, The charging fixture hose will not clip onto the wrong port, so you really can't mess that up. the pressure of a system as measured on the low side hose should be about 28-32 PSI with the system stabilized and engine at operating temperature.

Low pressure valve for ac

In general the Low-pressure valve is a safety feature to protect the A/C compressor from damage. The valve can be changed without too much effort, sometimes the spring inside can become weak and activate at a different pressure than designed. With strong grip, it can be changed by hand, using care not to twist the a/c lines it is mounted on. It has an electric connector which has clips to secure it and they must carefully be unlatched.

There are 2 valves which are similar in appearance and the low-pressure part is closest to the black oval tank or even mounted on the black oval tank. You want to be sure to change the correct one. This will only help you IF the original part was defective.

When this part is working properly, it prevents the A/C from working when the Freon is low. If the Freon is low there are many possibilities why this happened. Each car is an individual case. Depending on the size and location of the leak, sometimes an additive in a new can of Freon with a sealer/conditioner can help. Sometimes too much air leaks into the system and it needs to be purged and you start over fresh.

Autozone has loaner tools to create a Vacuum in the system, measure the pressure in the Freon lines and do other repairs. It is a free program with refundable deposits.

You can go to an autoparts store and ask to see the correct part. The clerk may even look under the hood of your car to show you where it goes. If the valve is bad, replacing it can fix the problem.

You should not lose but a whisper of Freon when switching this part. But if the part is good, you need to address the low pressure. Freon has gone up so much that a mistake is costly. Use to be that you would try adding Freon first to solve a problem when Freon was $2.50 a can.

Also watch for the size of the can of Freon. Many shady ads will sell you short cans of Freon at a "discount" price. You pay less but get less.

Since each car must be judged by inspection results, its a specific call on what to do.

I believe I have a clogged rear expansion valve in my 99 chevrolet suburban...is this easy to resolve?

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY, NOT EASY. ORIFICE TUBE IS LOCATED ON THE REAR QUARTER PANEL INSIDE OF SUBURBAN. THE FREON NEEDS TO BE CAPTURED BY A FREON RECYCLING MACHINE. THEN THERE ARE SOME PANELS THAT NEED TO BE REMOVED TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE H.V.A.C. BOX , THIS IS WHERE YOUR HEATER CORE, EVAPORATOR CORE AND FAN BLOWER ARE HOUSED,THE SMALLER METAL FREON CONTAINS THE ORIFICE TUBE THAT NEED TO BE PULLED OUT. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST TO YOU TO HAVE THE FREON PRESSURES CHECK FIRST, CAUSE WHEN THE FREON IS LOW THE REAR A./C WILL NOT WORK AS GOOD ANYMORE. PRESSURE READING SHOULD BE: LOW SIDE 35-45 P.S.I. AND ON THE HIGH PRESSURE SIDE IT SHOULD READ: 200 - 250 P.S.I.ANYTHING DIFFERENT IF BOTH PRESSURES ARE LOW, JUST ADD SOME FREON VERY SLOWLY UNTIL PRESSURES ARE WITH-IN THOSE RANGES.

I have a 1997 oldsmobile achieva. I am trying to locate the car's low pressure valve to recharge the air conditioning with freon. Where is it? Thank you

The low and high side valves are located under the air filterbox, if you open the hood and remove the air filter box you will see the valves ,good day

Where do I add freon to my '96 lumina?

You will add R134a refrigerant to the low pressure side. There willl be to schrader valves, one for the high, and low pressure sides. You can only charge the low side. To locate the inlet, you will follow the lines off of the a/c if you are not sure where they are, it will have a cap over the schrader valve that reads L, that is the one that you charge.

Ac charge for 2001 chevy malibu I need to find the right pressure port on the fire wall a picture would help or really detailed instructions i found one pressure port but it was to large for the hose i...

If you are gonna charge Freon, you are looking for the LOW SIDE pressure valve. Most of the time its located on the low pressure hose or the evaporator itself.Look for a HUGE black cap most of the time its that color your freon can if it came with a hose attached will only fit the low side connection.

Hi I bought a used volve about 6 months ago. Lately when I use the ac the far left vent blows out warm air and it also is not blowing out as cold of air as it used to. I was going to add some more freon...

> I was going to add some more freon and the gauge that came with the can does not fit the valve. There are normally two valves on the AC lines; one is the low-pressure valve (inlet to the compressor), the other is a high pressure line leaving the compressor and going into the exchanger. The low pressure valve is the point at which Freon is added and pressure is measured with a single valve. The high pressure valve is customarily used only by service personal to determine compressor performance and should never be used to recharge the system; they are intentionally different to avoid rupturing the the Freon container. Trace all of the lines to be sure if you have found the right one to use for recharging and measuring the 'low' pressure side.
