My BMW ran out of fuel and won't start after fuel has been added

Is there a fuel injector reset switch and how do I reset it? Or, do I have to replace the fuel injector?

Have someone hit the fuel tank with a hammer while trying to start the engine. If it starts it's possible it picked up some trash. It may keep working if it starts but the pump will have damage and will need replacement. Although it will most likely start run for a few then die. If so just replace the fuel pump.

Ran out of gas now won't start where is fuel rest button

It probably has an enertia switch under the dash, but thats probably not why it won't start. There is no reset button per say.
If you ran it out of gas, and you have added fuel and think there is no air in the injectors, you may have damaged the pump.
Pumps need liquid fuel to keep cool and for lubrication.

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

Ran out of diesel now vehicle won't start

This is not unusual on a diesel. What happens is there is air in the system. If this vehicle has an electric fuel pump loosen line where fuel enters injection pump then turn ignition key to the on position and watch for fuel to appear and then quickly tighten line before turning off key. Then try to start. If does not have electric fuel pump will need a second person. One will loosen line and watch while other cranks vehicle until you get fuel and tighten line before the other person releases ignition switch unless vehicle starts first. If that doesn't do the job do this where line hooks onto each injector. Probably will not have to do this to all injectors but could run rough until all the air gets out of everything. I have farmed with diesel tractor for 25 years and dad I drove the gm vehicles with the 5.7. You normally don't start a diesel without bleeding the air out of the lines although some will self bleed most won't. Hope this does the trick.

Ran out of gas-truck won't start-replaced fuel

you probably have air in the lines, if you have a carb, spray some quick start into the carb and turn it over, if it starts and then dies when the starting fluid has run out, you probably need a fuel pump, since the running of the car should have blown out any air that was in the line, If your car is fuel injected, loosen the bolt cap at the end of the injector line that supplies the fuel,, and tap the key once,, ( don't start it,, ) just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times, this should blow fuel out of that loose bolt head, if it does your getting fuel, if not, back to the fuel pump, also you can check this link, http://www.aa1car.com/library/us1296.htm

Please get an expert to check the injector system for you.

This happens when an injector driven engine goes out of fuel.

Next time always watch your fuel guage.

Good luck.
