Question about 2001 Dodge Stratus

2 Answers

I have been driving the car just fine and then I came out this morning and the car was completely dead. The key would turn a little and make absolutely no sound. My remote key chain would not even open my doors. I am thinking the battery or alternator. Any ideas?

Lets start with checking out the battery, seeing as how the Alternator has nothing to do with starting your vehicle.

One of the two, both need testing.

I was driving my 1990 Dodge Caravan last night, previously was running just fine,i put my foot on the gas pedal, and lost power, checked it this morning, and found that I have no spark, any ideas?

Remove dist. cap and make sure rotor is turning. If so, you have eliminated the timing belt as the problem. Now find and remove fuel rail pressure port connector valve cap. Looks like tire valve. Depress valve. You should have fuel pressure. If so, I would remove ignition module/coil pack assembly and have it checked for free at any major parts supplier. Disconnect negative cable before removing anything electrical

Same exact problem

Okay it could be one of 2 things. A) you are leaving something on in the car such as lights or leaving a door open a little. B) you have a bad alternator. To check it once you have a complete charged battery, start the car. Let it run fora few mins. while the car is running disconnect the battery. (this is completely safe) If the car turns off you have a bad alternator. Please let me know the outcome.

Check the connections at the battery. Be sure they're clean and tight.

Guages when crazy. Now won't even try to start.

You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)
