Question about 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
I think you will probably need to have this vehicle reprogrammed, but try this first, it may at least work long enough to drive to the dealer ship.
turn the key to the on position, DO NOT START. let the car sit like this for 15 minutes, then start the car. this used to be the relearn on all gms, but the year of your vehicle is right around the time when they started to change a bit. good luck!

If the starter motor turns over but the engine won't start, your passlock has not been triggered, you simply have the distributor cap out of alignment. Remove and replace according to manufacturer specifications.
If the car won't start at all including the starter motor, then yes you've got a problem. You have triggered the passlock, which has activated the the start disable feature in your vehicle.
If your radio has a numerical keypad, you would generally type your passcode into the keypad, with the ignition key in the on position. Once the system recognizes the passcode, your passlock system will be deactivated and your vehicle will return to normal operating. Start the car and away you go.
If you don't have a passcode, contact your local Chevy dealer for assistance.
