The stability control system is typically triggered by the abs system/connector sensor on your wheel hub bearing. If you haven't replaced your hub bearings on the front you may have one going bad. Cheap fix for a diy.

Vehicle stability control

check the code first.as your dealer can check the stability control module has failed .i would not think it has given the age of the car.so dirty sensors on each wheel .remove and clean again as you need the clean down each hole with carb cleaner the teeth on the aisle the sensor pick up .will have dirt on them or water . two ways to clean remove the rubber gaiters and clean .but hard to refit them .or turn the hub full turn spraying calb cleaner down the sensors holes on each wheel.

Why does my service stability light come on when I ride over bumps

That circuit is connected to the abs sensor at the hubs. Run fault codes and look for wiring faults. Check that the wheel bearings are in good condition and are properly adjusted.

How can i tell which wheel speed sensor is bad on my 1998 buick lesabre? also, will the light go out once a new one is installed

It may be something as simple as a broken wire.
Check the cable from the harness to the connection on the back of the hub.
I've fixed 4 cars that had "Service vehicle soon" "ABS " and"Traction" lights on by simply repairing the cable.
And yes the light goes off once repaired

2005 Buick Terraza: "Service stability system" comes on seemingly at random at various speeds. At low speed a definite bump is felt as the system engages. At highway speeds no difference in car...

when the warning is on your stability and abs systems are disabled, and yes any braking, or suspension issue is a safety issue and needs addressed, unfortunately taking it to a dealership for diagnostics at least if you plan to replace your own parts is the only way to go. I have an 06 terraza, and have has a few issues that had to be fixed by a dealership tech, luck for me I have been a gm dealership tech for 12 years so i fixed it on my own, but anyways their are severel different codes that can set for this system, so a dealership scantool will have to retrieve the code for you due to the fact only a liscenced gm dealer has the available software for this particular system. I know it sucks but thats the way it is..

TRACTION LIGHT STAYS ON AND ABS LIGHT AFTER STARTING CAR 97 buick lasabre

There is a good chance that the wheel speed sensor, (ABS sensor) has gone bad or gotten to dirty. It's common for the ABS sensor to get too dirty and can not read the speed ring on the wheel hub since it's magnetic. The common repair is to spray Brake Parts Cleaner on the ABS and speed ring on the hub and inspect for damages to the wire harness. The ABS sensor is on the inside of the wheel hub so it's easy to get to, if you not sure what your looking for. Remove the wheel and along the A-arm, you will find a wire harness which leads to the wheel hub (Bearing). There is where your going to find the sensor, just clean it and inspect for corrosion and gap, you can take paper and fold it 5 times and place it between the sensor and speed ring for the proper gap. Good luck and keep me posted, if there is a Auto Zone around your area, have them scan the car just to make sure it's not your ABS modulator which would cast $$$ to replace.

Stability system The "service stability system" light as well as the ABS and Brake lights have gone on. Is this a major repair? SHould the car serviced by a dealer? this is on a 2000 bonneville ssei.

the service stability light as well as the abs light is all conected to the wheel sensor. To fix it is simple if you kn,w how to do a brake job,it is all conected to the hub assembly. I replaced both front wheel sensors due to that problem. you can by the hub assembly for around 100.00 dollars at auto zone. the wire that connects to the wheel always breaks and these codes come up.
