Unfortunately you might have a coolant leak, in spite of the A/C inspection. I'd get a second opinion from another mechanic. Have the mechanic check to make sure your condenser is not clogged with dirt, rocks and road grime, preventing the A/C system from cooling properly. Notorious problem for automotive air conditioning.

Check to see that the fuse to the A/C is not blown and that the compressor is cycling on and off as it should. If the the A/C pressure switch was not inspected, it should be inspected and tested for proper operating.

One last thing. Also have the mechanic check the pressure in the A/C system, and that there is sufficient refrigerant in the system.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

The AC compressor front seal is leaking, this is a very common problem with this car, just did mine a few months ago, exact same thing, charged it lasted a week or two then leaked out. It is a 3 hour job to replace the copmpressor, it comes out through the wheel well after u remove the pastic insert in front, very easy to get at, charging is hard due to the fact the system MUST HAVE A VACUUM pulled on it belfore u can charge it.

You either have a leak or your A/C compressor is not working. Check the fuse for the A/C and go from there.

Ac just warning.....what should be checked first? was blowing really cold.....then not quite as cold for about a week.. ...then went to turn on & it only blows hot air....ideas?

probably low or no gas
until you have the system checked for leaks it will be a waste of money just adding gas
Take it to an accredited ac specialist and have it properly diagnosed

Why does my lincoln town car air condition blow hot air with the compressor working and Freon full

I would recharge it then see if that fixes the problem. if it keeps blowing hot the you will more then likely you will need to replace the compressor. but I would check all the line first you might have a leak or one of the lines could have come loose

I have a 1998 Olds Aurora thats been a great car until about 2 weeks ago and then ... problem 1. lights flash off and on when car is off, clicking, buzzing noise coming from steering colum,...

problem 1 could be a loose wire, but if it is failure in the switch it will need to be replaced cleaning is probably not an option. Problem 2 bad gas can cause the stopping at idle speeds add some stp fuel treatment, read label to make sure it dries up water in gas. Fill up after you add the treatment and you will probably be good. problem 3 is tricky. Try turning off the a/c then turn it back on you should hear a little click like sound which should indicate if it is in fact turning on the a/c. If it sounds like it did turn on then turn off a/c and switch to heater or vent mode you should hear what sounds like little doors being closed. If you don't hear a change or heater doesn't blow hot air or your outside air vent doesn't blow cooler/outside temp. air then you may a have a leaking vaccum line or the vaccum unit is not working right.

A/c is blowing hot air

Wel I am not a mechanic or anything, but i haev had some experience with aircons. The one problem might be that there is a leak in the pipes. 9 out of ten times the leak is where the various pipes join. you can simply take a spaner and tighten them otherwise the leak maybe where the compressor is. if the pipes were blocked then it will not blow any cold air and you said it did blow cold air for a while. the way to find a leak is take soap water in a spray gun and spray the soap water in on the pipes and joints, this should blow a bubble where the leak is. however this can only work if you have gas in the compressor. so fill in more aircon gas first.
hope i am right.

2002 Montana, A/C not cooling. blows hot air.

Sounds like a gas leak..
Most efficient way to handle that is - go to a ac specialist.. They will put more gas in with a die.. Then a week later they will check it again and a floresant light will spot the die - should there be any leaks.. And that way you will know exactly what you are dealing with..

Hope this helps !!

Today the A/C stopped blowing cold air yesterday it was fine, Nothing but hot air was coming our of vents

Look for leaks around the A/C hoses and compressor. You may just be low on Freon. When the pressure in your lines (amount of gas in your ac lines) is low, the ac will just cutout hence blowing hot air. try adding some freon.

You should have added red died gas to your AC to see where it leaks, then fix the leak, then recharged it properly.
