Question about 1997 Chrysler Cirrus

New Engine oil pours out from under valve cover...

When adding change of oil to ''new'' used 1997 Chrysler Cirrus 2.5 V6, it all poured out from under valve cover when engine was turned on!
Before this the engine ran fine and had the proper amount of used oil.

Hello there. This issue will be the result of a warped vale cover, or a failed valve cover gasket. the more common culprit will most likely be a failed valve cover gasket. You may isolate the problem by removing the cover, and using a level to confirm the cover alignment. If it dose not line up correctly to the head, replace the valve cover. Now, if the cover is ok and not warped, simply, replace the failed valve cover gasket.

2001 2500hd 6.0 HOW DO I PUT OIL IN IT? Can't find

Oil adding to a vehicle usually goes through the valve cover by opening a cap located on the valve cover. You absolutlely do not want to make a mistake and pour it into something other then this location. You could check your auto manual for location or call your local dealer for it as well. To be sure you have located the right cap, look down inside once cap is removed and you should be able t see the inside of the engine valve train. 4 cylinder usually have one valve cover while v6 and v8 have 2. On v6-v8 usually one valve cover has the cap. There also could be a spout that is raised up with a twist cap as well. It should say on top "FOR ENGINE OIL ONLY" or similar.

Power steering pump bracket removal on 1997 chyrsler cirrus v6

Hi Dave,

Trying to do a timing belt? Can't figure out how to get to the bolt on the back side of the power steering bracket so you can get it out of the way and get the rear timing cover off?

If this is the case, all I can say is I know your pain!!! Been there, done that, MANY times!

The easiest way that I have found to do this (if you want to call it EASY) is to remove the upper intake plenum and the rear valve cover. Then the bolt can be easilly accessed by reaching over the top of the rear head.

Hint: this is also a good time to replace spark plugs and ignition cables. These engines like to get valve cover leaks that fill the spark plug tubes on the rear head with engine oil, so removing the valve cover and replacing the gasket and spark plug tube seals is a good investment if you are doing a timing belt anyway. Having the valve cover off also makes it very easy to loosen up the cam journal caps and make it easy work to install new camshaft seals also. - this way, hopefully, you won't have to go back in there for a LONG time!

I have a Chrysler Sebring V6. I have changed the oil every 3,000 miles, but I am continually adding oil when I get gas. I have changed the PCV valve, but it has not made a difference. Is this something...

You can try and get this covered under your extended, but from what I've heard, it will be difficult. Bottom line, you need an engine. There were a lot of problems with these engines and oil sludge. Some people have reported that switching to synthetic oil has helped reduce oil burning and sludge build up around the piston rings which is what causes this problem.

I'm guessing this is a 2.5 v6. Most common problem is a bad distributor, (loss of spark) Make sure as these are fairly pricey. Fuel pumps also go bad but not as common

the valve cover gaskets were leaking oil around the spark plug boots making the boot swell and causing a voltage leak. the engine misfired and stop lights. i did a tune up with new cover gaskets, plugs, wires, cap and rotor and she runs like a top. vrooom, vrooom!!
