Question about 2002 Ford F150 Regular Cab
The emergency brake will not stay off. It retracts to stop position after a short while, like a breaker breaks, also the cable only moves 1/2 inch , should maybe move 2 ", the push rod moves 3" at least. this is electric over hydraulic. Thanks Bud.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: emergency brake not holding
You have to go under the truck, there are cables that are adjustable. Look on the driver side just back of the front seat location the screw adjuster is there.

SOURCE: parking brake not funtioining
Need more info on chassis.
Which e-brake system, Trans brake?
Trans brake should always have some tension on cable. If no tension there could be internal problems (shoes worn).
If rear e-brake it function same as light truck setup.
