I have a 2010 T & C with a towing package

I have a 2010 T&C with a towing package installed. I have the hitch installed and would like some technical information for the wiring.

Is the tow group ready for a 7 pin connector?
What connector is recommended? What am I expected to buy?
Is there a pig tail ready in the back?
Is there a schematic available?

Go to the dealer. most likely they may have a harness that just plugs in. .If you try to wire the old fashion way chances are you will create more issues since every system is computer controlled. If you do 1 thing wrong you can fry a computer and then you will be real bummed.

What the difference between jeeps with and with out a hitch

no drive line options stated, what engine and trans?
the cars data sheet covers all that. 2011?
i dont know what towing option they had in 2011.
just hitch or other things,
mostly capacity is a function of car weight and power and transmissions ability not not overload or over heat.
up to 5000 lbs, as it says , adequately equipped,(drive train)
type of hitch and tires,
all are factors.
why not ask jeep this, they look and see what you have
then ask you what you want to tow.
see>?
quote:
With the available towing package, the Liberty is capable of pulling a load up to 5,000 pounds.

youd need top ask jeep that, for a 2011.
after all they designed it and sold it.
and brake good enough to stop car + 5000 pound
so..... at the least, not to mention speeds, or altitudes and side wind effects.

one expert said
The Jeep Liberty's towing capacity without the towing package is 2000 pounds. With the towing package, it's 3500 pounds. With the towing package and a weight distribution hitch, it's 5000 pounds. You will get down the road hauling 5000 pounds (don't try to go over any mountain passes), but your engine and transmission will pay the price. Mostly what the towing package gives you is an upgraded engine and transmission cooling system.

again why not ask jeep this, go there and ask them , Sr.
how do I get to 5000lbs safe, its their car, and there design.

ever go down a hill fast with 5000 lbs behind this small car?
? it wont be fun.
5000 lbs pushing 4000lbs.
the car is a victim , of these powerful forces.

Not towing with but towing behind rv and the 2010 odyssey has had to be boosted off twice, has a brand new battery on it what could the problem be

If you have to have the key on to unlock the steering wheel, try installing a battery cut off switch under the hood. You cannot completely remove battery power completely or you will loose the radio station memory and the brake lights. You can install a battery isolator on the RV so you can charge the battery on the odessy while you're towing it using a wire on the hitch connector.

How do I tell if I need a 100 amp or 130 amp alternator for a 2001 Lexus rx300. I already have an aftermarket alternator so I don't know what the original is.

If your Lexus ever had a hitch installed, you would see evidence under the rear bumper. A competent Lexus service manager can identify the current capacity of the OEM alternator used in 2001.

Please help we have just brought a Renault master short wheelbase van to tow a 24 foot caravan is this ok

the most important thing in towing is knowing the weights and limits of the tow package,, In your owners manual, it should list the towing capacities , if you have an after market tow hitch, check to be sure that the hitch is rated for the vehicle, Just because a tow hitch is placed on a vehicle, doesn't mean it can tow just anything, again,, the weights must be compatible for each vehicle. I had my vehicle equipt with a tow package that is added to the transmission of my vehicle to enable towing

Hello, I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy that came with a rear hitch for towing. I need to install a brake controller and plug connector. I bought the 6-pole connector kit but I don't know what to buy other than the...

Hello Brenda, the tow package wire is tucked into the rear of your Jimmy near the hitch. The controller, unfortunately also needs to be installed in the cabin of your vehicle. I recommend that you call a few local repair shops, tell them what you have and what you need and shop for the best price. Regards, Joe

Towing capacity

While a Grand Prix isn't really designed to tow,the capacity of the car would be 4 adults and luggage. In my estimation, that would equate to roughly 1000 pounds that the car can comfortably haul around. Now,you do have to realize that this is going to be ******* the transmission especially, and the engine secondly.Definitely install an auxiliary transmission cooler to help dissipate the heat from the trans fluid.A close look at the rear suspension and possibly any upgrades there will help out with the tongue weight that a trailer creates.Check and see how much the trailer actually weighs before proceeding.Unlike cars of 30 years ago, that were outfitted with V8,rear wheel drive, truck engines and transmissions, today's cars really aren't the ideal choice to tow with,as a front wheel drive transaxle is pretty light duty.Towing a lawnmower and small trailer,or a jet ski,no problem.A camper trailer would need to be really light, and the other issue might be brakes.Check your brakes really well on your car,as they will also be stopping the weight of whatever you're towing.Good luck.
