1994 plymouth voyager oil pressure drops to 0 at red lights. Oil pressure comes up if in neutral or accelerate Gets worse when engine is hot.

2002 trailblazer oil pressure drops when stopped returns accelerating

Usually means the engine bearings are worn out, or the oil pump is weak.
As the oil gets hot, it gets thinner, which reduces pressure. When the engine is at idle speed the pump is not pumping as fast as it is at highway speed.

96 chevy cheynne 5.7 vortechas about 40to50 pounds oil pressure when first sart in morning and when it gets to temp. it drops to 20to25pnds and at a stop it goes to 0 and gauge light comes on until i give...

Well it could be the sending unit for the gauge.
But odds are the oil pump or engine bearings are worn out.
As the engine warms up, the metal spaces expand and the oil gets thinner. The oil pressure drops some under normal conditions, but not more than 10 or 15psi. Normal idle pressure with the engine warmed up is probably 25psi.
You could check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to make sure its not the sending unit.
Once the oil pressure starts staying below 20psi for long periods you'll start hearing noises.

More often than not the oil pressure switch is the problem. Normally the oil pressure switch would be removed and an oil pressure gauge would be installed in its place. The engine would be started and the gauge would let you know if oil pressure was correct or low.

Most of the time what happens is the switch gets lazy. the slight drop in oil pressure at idle is just enough for it to complete the circuit that turns on the oil light.

They are fairly inexpensive, readily available at you local auto parts store and easily installed. It is located near the oil filter on the v-6 engines. If I remember right it has a green connector with a red locking tab and a single wire coming out of the connector.

I have an insanely bad oil leak on my 94 v6 plymouth voyager. It looks like it's coming out of the top of the back of the engine, and I already replaced the oil pan gasket. I have yet to replace the valve...

not sure bout the oil..but i had a caravan....similar vibes....shortly after..the pin in the tranny dropped out..locking her up...better a get a tranny guy to check it out before u lose it...i didnt.& cost me a lot of money

All I can think is that there is fault with the type of oil or the oil pump mechanism or oil pressure switch or oil pressure relief valve. When cold the oil is viscous and the pump will have little difficulty in maintaining adequate oil pressure. As the oil gets hot its viscosity is very much reduced and flows with ease and the pump has to work so much more effectively to maintain pressure. The speed of the pump is governed by engine revs so as you 'press on the gas' that pump whirls around making pressure. As soon as the engine revs drop the hot oil slips past the pump vanes and the pressure drops. Remedy: Use a 5/40 or a 10/50 grade oil. These left number indicates viscosity when cold (5 is less viscous than 10 when cold) and the second number indicates viscosity when hot. If you live in one of the northern states and suffer very cold winters try 0/40 grade as this will cause less strain on the starter motor, battery and oil pump when starting in the cold. Try and choose a large figure (45 or 50) for the second number as this indicates a higher viscosity when hot, a good thing for older engines with greater wear and tolerances. I think it is no coincidence that the problem you have seen started immediately after you did an oil change and this should fix it. If this results in no joy check out the pressure relief valve in the engine block: a tired or broken spring will not allow enough pressure build up. The oil sender is probably OK but "if in doubt change it out". All the above are relatively inexpensive but if they fail to solve the problem its time to look at the oil pump assembly. This should be accessibly once the oil sump cover on the bottom of the engine is removed. You'll need a workshop manual, some good tools and an extensive vocabulary of expletives to call on. Enjoy!

I have a '99 Voyager and the oil pressure sensor stays on and beeps at me while I am driving. It has plenty of oil. The oil was just changed 2 days ago and the oil pressure switch was changed 2 months ago....

The first thing to do, is take it back to your mechanic
and have them hook up a mechanical oil pressure
gauge. To find out the actual oil pressure,before any
serious damage results. As for the oil pressure sending unit, it's not that strange to get a bad one out
of the box. But lets eliminate the obvious first and have the gauge check done. Hope this helps.

Type of engine oil?1994 plymouth voyager v6

API SG or SG/CD look on the Cap or Label of the Oil Container (Quart, Gallon, or 5 Quarts).
10W 30 for Winter.
10W 40 for Summer.
V6 3.0L gets 4.0-quarts.
V6 3.3L and 3.8L gets 4.5 quarts.
Always change Oil Filter with the Oil Change.

When I accelerate the engine sounds like a diesel. Something like a grinding noise. It also hesitates when starting off. I don't know if the 2 things are related. Gerald

put original factory plugs into your car.
change plug wires to original factory wires.
make sure there is no aftermarket performance chip in the computer/car ECU....
make sure you are using the right octane fuel.
make sure your air filter is not clogged change if necessary.
