Check coil #3 on v6 and #4 on v8. Usually the coil closet to passenger read side of engine. You probably dont feel a misfire, but put the car in drive and firmly hold brakes down. Rev to about 2k or 3k rmps. If it stutters thats your issue.
If one of the engine components is acting up, you should get a check engine light and have codes for the components. If the light is not coming on, it could be a suspension or mechanical problem.
Low fuel pressure could also do it.
The only way to know what is the cause of this is to have the electronic engine control module scanned for fault codes. It is the very 1st thing that MUST be done.
NOBODY HAS HAD A SOLUTION TO THE WRENCH LIGHT PROBLEM....I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS A 2006 INTERNATIONAL DIESEL 6.0 ROLL OFF WRECKER.....HE HAS HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE LOOK AT IT AND NOBODY HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT....EVERYBODY ANSWERING THIS QUESTION ON HERE SAYS READ THE CODES....IS THERE ANY REAL MECHANICS OUT THERE...TRUCKS & CARS BOTH HAVE THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH...THE ONLY THING THAT MAY HAVE MADE SINCE ON HERE {BUT I DON'T THINK SO UNTIL I CHECK THE TRANY FLUID ON THE ROLL OFF } SOMEONE ON HERE SAID TRANY FLUID IS LOW....I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT YET BUT I AM OPENED MINDED...3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE PLUGGED IN A SCAN TOOL ON THE TRK. AND NO CODES POPPED UP...SO I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR AN ANSWER....IF ONE COMES UP WITH A GOOD ANSWER ,PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT [email protected]...../????? thanks
The check engine light comes on to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the car's systems. Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any codes it has stored. Most parts stores will do the scan for free. The codes will let you know what the computer has identified as a problem/potential problem. Hope this helped and best wishes.
This means that there was a malfunction in the emission system, ignition system, or transmission. The computer has seen the problem and set a trouble code which would lead you to the system that is causing the concern. Now understand this, it tells you which system malfunctioned it does not tell you exactly what part is bad contrary to popular believe.
Now to retrieve this code you must do this with a scan tool. Some places like auto zone will retrieve them for free. However be aware that their equipment will only retrieve the code and no other information. The reason I mention this is on this vehicle when the light is set the computer records what is called freeze frame data. This is recorded data that tells the technician what conditions your vehicle was operating under when the code set. If your problem is intermittent then this information may be vital to him in diagnosing your vehicle. This information is erased when codes are retrieved.
So my recommendation is to have a technician you know and trust to check your vehicle.
