My 2003 nissan sentra has trouble starting. It usually starts and dosen't die by the second or third try. The speedometer will jump from 0 to 1 or 0 to 2 when I am driving and then cut off. Or sometimes the speedometer will jump up and down as the car jerks. When I press on the gas my car makes a coughing sound. I am afraid my car is on the verge of breaking. What do I do?

Nothing working on the instrument cluster ? Shouldn't be a battery problem with being only five months old. Turn on the headlamps , do they shine bright ? Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key to the on position ? Do all warning lights come on with the key on , then some go off after a few seconds ? Checking for diagnostic trouble codes in the instrument cluster would be a good thing to do also . The Instrument cluster could be the problem .
disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter or the fuel rail which ever is easier to get too, then try to start the car if it sprays fuel it is not the pump if it does not then you know it is the pump.
try replacing the crankshaft and camshaft sensers, my 2004 sentra spec v had the same problem. It cost me $122 for both the sensers and can be done in 20mins
