Check the cables of the spark plugs, some times it occurs that the cables get loose from its plastic retainers and touch any metal in the engine, causing missfire of the related spark plug, hence rough running of the engine. Put all cables on the retainers making sure none touches the bare metal of the engine. That should help.

I have a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 liter that won't idle

Check your throtle postition sensor. It monitors what postion the throtle is at and sends that info to the ecm. It will go bad and cause that problem.

Runs rough on acceleration and surges when removing foot from accelerator. Also, has poor gas mileage. The vehicle is a 1998 Grand Cherokee with 5.2, automatic with four wheel drive.

This sounds like one of two things. Depending heavily on your vehicles milage, you could need a new EGR valve or a new timing chain/belt. Thank you, Dana

96 Jeep grand cherokee. 4.0 Running rough and

fuel pressure seems a bit high...could be a bad regulator. can't remember if yours is on top of the sending unit (on tank) or on the fuel rail though. Do more testing there.
