If the oil warning light comes on, it means the oil pressure switch-sensor is faulty or your oil pressure really is dropping below 5 psi. You would need to replace the sensor or have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge to figure out the issue.
It is suppose to come on when you first start the car to let you no it is working (Properly) End then go out in a while. Is your oil up to where it is suppose to be? If it is staying on the is a (Problem) With what is called your (Oil) sending (Unit)
If the car has low milelege on it end is running okay,End your oil leval is up where it is suppose to be, The oil light sending unit is defective.End needs to be replaced. Hope this helps you out.
Your motor oil level is low. The oil light indicates low oil pressure - at higher RPMs the oil sending unit (oil pump) can create a little oil pressure, but at lower RPMs it fails to keep up. If the oil level is good, then the oil sending unit itself is going bad.
could also be wrong type of oil but worst case is the big end bearings inside the engine have gotten to big to maintain oil pressure and as you guessed the oil pump could be worn out, i would try changing oil pump first.
Just to add, hope this helps with sensor location. The spec I saw was 30--80 psi oil pressure at 3000 rpms. In the old days they used to say for generic spec, 10 psi for every 1000 rpms. Always use the proper spec. You might be able to use analog pressure gage to screw in to replace sending unit to double check oil pressure. Just my opinion.
I'm guessing you mean 1000 so make sure you have oil first off then have it changed if you are due for it. After that you need to have the pressure switch checked, and or a mechanical test of your oil pressure
all turbo engines have a oil line to the turbo. If it is not getting oil the turbo will burn up and have to be replaced. Change your oil and filter to start with.
