How do I replace the front wheel bearings on a 2005 chev 3500 deisel 4x4. I know thwe who;e hub must be replaced but how do I remove it?
The bearing hub assembly requires a heavy duty puller which attaches to the wheel studs and presses against the axle shaft. Often the force required pulls the bearing apart which adds to the fun. The puller runs in the $200+ range which makes this an unusual do-it-yourselfer task.
Most major tool suppliers offer this puller.
Remove cv outer nut, tire brake caliper and lower ball joint use a bar to pry against lower a frame to seperate ball joint slip out cv axel then remove four nuts securing wheel bearing. I would have to check at home for exact instructions.
