The ignition is locked due to the steering, try turning the steering wheel back and forth as you try to turn the key. Also try making sure the shifter is all the way in park by moving the shifter back and forth.

Simply grasp the steering wheel with one hand at the top of the steering wheel while the other one is on the ignition key and rock the steering and simultaneously GENTLY turn key. It will free up. If no go be more agressive with the steering wheel "shaking"

Your steering wheel lock is connected to ignition in column, pull hard on steering wheel in direction wheels are turned at the same time turn key, this should free them both up.

The same thing (locked ignition has happened to my Lexus...twice. The first time it corrected on it's own when I tried again 30 minutes later. The next time (which was this evening) I had to get it towed. The steering wheel and ignition were locked and the wheels locked so we could not get it out of the driveway onto the flatbed tow truck. Very very annoying. Why hasn't Lexus recalled this - there is no good reason this is happening.

many times when you park, the auto lock is turned just a tad , over turned ./ grabbing the wheel and moving back and forth will usually let you turn the key...... sometimes you just have to torque on the steering wheel , to get the key lock to come out of the // overturned / torque / position.....

Ignition key will not come out ignition

see this steps and fix it. God bless you
If the key won't turn in the ignition, it could be for a couple of reasons: Often this happens when the steering is locked by the ignition lock with the front wheels turned aside (e.g. when parking on a hill) or when one of the front wheels is pushed against something (e.g. curb stone). In this case, try turning the steering wheel left and right while gently jiggling the ignition key - this might help to release the steering lock.
Another possibility is that there is a problem with the ignition lock or the key itself. This happens; the key and the lock mechanism wear over time. Try to use a spare key. If nothing works, your local dealer is the best place to call.

What can cause wheel to lock but when u place the key inside the ignition its not unlocking the wheel it still in the lock mode

I think from what you are saying the wheels are turned enough that they are putting load on the steering wheel. When you get ready to turn the key on - turn steering wheel left or right a little (you will feel which way is hard against lock) enough to get load off lock with your arm strength and then the key should turn fine. This can happen when you parked on hill or had wheel turned when shutting down car.

Lincoln town car is in park and the key goes in the ignition but you cant turn it to start the car. was working until yesterday. girlfriend parked it with the wheels turned

the wheels turn should make no difference.

Try turning the wheel both ways while trying to turn the key...it may be in the lock detent position. if that doesnt work, then you need to get the lock cylnder replaced.

Steering wheel getting locked up

I think it is a common problem that while the power steering relaxes and the tyres find a comfortable spot to sit on the road, after you've parked, the steering mechanism can push against the steering lock in the ignition switch. Usually the steering wheel needs a bit of a jiggle while you turn the key. If you were to engage park brake, release foot brake and let go of steering wheel before turning off ignition, it may settle better for you.

I can't pull out the key it seem that the car locked the key and i cant start the car

Make sure the gear selector is fully in park, alot of times if the cars wheel was turned when the vehicle is parked the steering wheel is locked in the turn position and it puts pressure on the ignition switch. Try turning the steering wheel slightly left/right and see if it kicks back. If it does you have tension on the ignition and need to hold it until the key is turned to the on position and it unlocks the ignition. If you can try to let the wheel come to a rest before turning off the ignition as opposed to holding the wheel turned and shutting off the ignition, this will avoid a locked wheel/column

Saturn vue ignition key won't turn

It was very likely that the problem turning the key was due to the steering column lock mechanism. Sometimes when you lock the steering wheel, if you the mechanism will bind up, making it difficult to unlock the ignition with the key. Often when this happens, you will be parked on a hill with your wheels agains a curb or some such item. Once you turn the wheel hard to the right (or left), the pressure is released on the locking mechanism, and the key will turn easily. This is a similar situation to what can happen in an automatic if you park on a hill without the parking brake.
try doing this:
pop the off the circle piece around the ignition and the holster cover under the steering wheel.
that ought to work.
