After reconnecting battery radio will not work. LOC appears on screen. power switch has no effect . how do i fix?

q1; time to fix, (fix can be 25 things wrong, and each FIX is diffrent times)
a dead starter can be 5min fix to 2 hours.(replaced)
is the battery good, and charged? if not , its not the starter.
if battery is good, then its the start system, it is a system of wires and solenoid and starter. ( does the starter hot wire and work?)
if yes, its not a bad starter. (hot wired at the solenoid)
took me 2hrs to replace a starter, and 1hr second time.
depends on, if bolts are seized, or bad, or wont budge.
if you live in the SALT belt, it can be a real hard job.
q2: dead head, the radio (tape, wow tape, is like old tech) is dead?
tape and A/M and F/M are dead?
well, you apply power to it , and if dead, it is. time for new Radio,etc.
yes there is a fuse.
is your radio programmable. ? sure it is.
when replacing a battery, or starter, one kills the radio program storage. that is norm effect, unless mech has my magic tool that stops that.
few have the magic tool, a cig lighter plug with a 9v battery inside.
also , you lose alarm programming, and any other fancy gear that needs battery to hold programming..

Be sure those cables are fixed. You can get new terminal ends at any parts storre if the originals are rotted away. They install without soldering.

hi please check the above mentioned wires are in place. if all in place then check weather power is coming to these lines. if power is also coming the problem lies with the system itself. please service it and it wil be ok.

You need to enter a radio code to reactivate your radio. When the fuse was pulled, it cut the 12 volt to the radio and the radio anti-theft came on. Try entering 0000 to unlock you radio, if your radio does not take any more entries. Disconnect the battery again for 1 min and reconnect and then you can reenter codes again, if the code is not 0000. You can go the dealer and they can reactivate your radio, but if they want a crazy amount. Log on to radio-code.com, there is a fee but it's like $24.00. good luck and keep use posted.

someone (hopefully you) set the 3 or 4 digit security code on the radio. when power is disconnected, like if someone steals your radio, the radio locks and cannot be used. the code can be from 000 to 1999. the hour and minute buttons are used to enter the numbers. 2000 choices - good luck
to unlock the system:
1 turn on ignition - LOC will appear
2 press MN and '000' will appear
3 press MN again until you see the last 2 digits of the code you want to try
4 press HR until you see the first 1 or 2 digit of the code you want to try
5 press AM FM
6 SEC will appear if you got it right - LOC will show if you got it wrong

Radio may need code, radio should display "code, loc, ..." IF no power at all, check all fuses. Sometimes spark from changing battery can blow radio fuses easily.

u can call any close delar to ur place and they will help u by phone they will give u the code for ur radio and they will tell u they way to enter it in its free from anydelar

you need to leave key on for 30 minutes and it will go back to loc and let you input code

This solution is for a 1999 Grand Am SE am/fm radio with tape cassette player:
Ido not know if this works for other Grand Am products past or prior 1999.
If the lcd display of the radio indicates "LOC" if you do not see anything on the display the small light behind the display is out and you need electronics to go further. If LOC appears here is what to do:
First put the ignition key to the ACC position.
2- press the HR clock adjust button once only ; the display should read 000
3-push the HR button successively until you reach 17 on the radio display 4-then press on the MN (minutes) button again until you reach the number 42
5-when the number 1742 appears on the display, press on the AM/FM button once and after on the POWER/VOL button to power up the radio.
