Re: 2006 Subaru B-9 Tribeca leaks water into the...
Most likely the evaporator vent is clogged. You will need to find where the hose is suppose to leak out under the car and blow it out with air.. This is providing you don't have a heater core leak which would be evident because you would also be loosing coolant in the engine coolant bottle.
It sounds like the codensation drain tube for the AC/ Heater core housing is plugged up or it has become detached from the core housing. The drain tube is located under the vehicle on the passenger side just below the firewall and it runs up into the cab where it attaches to the base of the core housing. Make sure that the drain tube is connected to the core housing, and it is clear and free of any obstructions. Were you able to find any problem with the AC condensation drain tube?
I will have to check when I get home from work. The wierd part is that you can hear a spraying sound under the dash, and I can make it happen when I turn sharply left. If the drain tube is disconnected, why would it drain into the car and not out? I will have to check when I get home tonight.
Because the drain tube actually runs into the cab and then it attaches to the lower part of the core housing, if the tube got dis-connected then it would drain inside of the cab and not outside.
Now, here's the $60,000 question, how hard would it be to get in and see if it has dis-connected?
Usually if you pull the carpet back from under the core housing area (passenger side floor) you should be able to look up behind the core housing and see it.
I greatly appreciate the help. I will let you know later what happened. Thanks
The water that is coming out is clean and clear, no smell of coolant, if there was a heater core leak would you smell it in the car? I noticed that the coolant was low, but I am not sure if it was low before this happened. I recharged the coolant bottle so I guess I should see if the level drops when I turn it back on. Can I use a common compressor to blow out the line? Where does it vent to when I blow it out?
