check battery with a load tester
diesel engines have to spin fast when starting
using easy start on a diesel is a sure way to destroy the engine
run the fault codes
Doubtful you have a fuel pressure problem if the car runs well, poor starting can be a few things , poor air circulation air filter needs cleaning or replacing, poor injector flow warn injectors or just dirty fuel additive sometimes clears this , poor spark plugs not firing under pressure ok when started . for diesel cars you don't say what car it is , poor glow plugs . bad fuel filter , air leaks in fuel pump , poor injectors . and especially with diesel poor compression due to worn rings or head gasket failure . You may even have just have disturbed the engine earth strap when you replaced your starter motor .
for diesel fuel to congeal it has to be poor quality with a high paraffin content close to 0 degrees c or contaminated. I would go for contaminated from a fungus growing in the fuel. Get a sample of the fuel from the tank and if it is a grey slimy mess then that will be the fungus. All diesels use a return line from the injectors that lubricates and cools the injectors.and this hot fuel creates a humid atmosphere in the tank so hat when the tank cools down the fungus grows in the condensed water. Try a wynns diesel fuel treatment product as it is pretty good at killing the fungus and cleaning the tank out.
COULD HAVE BAD FUEL WRONG TYPE FUEL COULD NEED NEW AIR FILTER. DIESEL ENGINE NEEDS AIR TO OPERATE.IF AIR FILTER RESTRICTED.DIESEL ENGINE WONT RUN AND CLOGGED FUEL FILTER CAUSE STARTING PROBLEMS PROBLEMS WITH TURBOCHARGER OR TURBOCHARGER ACTUATOR WOULD CAUSE ENGINE RUN VERY SLOW NO POWER ON TAKE OFF.I SAY PROBLEM IN FUEL SYSTEM OR AIR INTAKE SYSTEM.IF YOU HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL FLASH ON.
If you have a gas engine, get ready for a lot of smoke and poor performance. If you have a diesel, you will be running hotter than ever and could do some damage, if it runs at all.
With the diesel engines you have to let the ignition coil warm up before you will have any luck cranking it. Diesel cars are no good in subzero temperatures. I had the same problem with my 92 300D Turbo and when i took it to MB they told me it was because i wasnt letting the coils heat up long enough.
