I have a '94 oldsmobile cutlass sierra and it won't start. i try to turn the key and the engine won't turn and there isn't any other sound. The battery and alternator are fine and the connections on the battery are secure as the car starts like it normally should after about 5-10 minutes of trying. When i try to start it it messes with the time and presets on my radio and the power locks won't work. At first when it didn't start i thought it was the battery so i had it jumped. It still didn't start. When in accessory the radio still works fine the dome light works and the door alarm still goes off. Also the dash lights won't come on until the car finally decides to start. Note: it does this at random times.

You may have a bad ignition switch.

First you need to go to the local parts store and get a steering wheel puller and a clock spring compressor tool. You can rent them but just cheaper to buy it and return it. I got mind like 35 bucks together.
You will remove the horn button just by pulling it towards you be careful not to rip the horn wire out. Next there may be a retainer clip remove it with a pair of needle nose pliers. Next get a breaker bar or a impact gun to back the center nut off. Once off use the steering wheel puller by inserting the threaded bolts into the threaded holes directly beside the center pin. ease the puller onto the center pin and tighten down until the steering wheel starts to move back towards you continue until off. On some trucks there is a steel plate covering the housing to the left side and towards the top are two small torx screws remove them and remove the cover. Next grab your clock spring compressor and install it similar to the way you did the wheel puller you will tighten down the center bolt slightly decompressing the clock spring. as you compress the clock spring look to the center there is a small retainer clip that looks like it is made into the center pin pry the clip off making sure not to damage it and remove the compressor tool, remove the clock spring making sure to pay attention on how it comes apart you can put it all back together. Remove the turn signal switch should be 3 phillips head screws. You may need to disconnect the horn wire at this point it just turns slightly and pulls out. After you remove the clock spring you will see the lock cylinder body, follow the body towards the center pin. There will be a small torx bit or a phillips screw to it will be silver and very shinny at the end of the lock housing remove it and slide the lock cylinder out. Install the new one and reverse the steps.
hope this helps...........good luck!

have you checked the glove box light? another way to tell where your short may be is to hook a voltage meter to the battery and notice a drain on the battery with the key off! then start pulling fuses to see when the drain stops and that will narrow down the possibilities of the problem... the drain should be easily located if its killing the battery overnight... help this helps

SOURCE: driver side window control not working

The drivers side window master switch has to be checked for power coming of the switch .

The control should be replaced, but make sure your fuses are good.

SOURCE: I need a diagram for a 94 oldsmobile cutlass

There is a dot on each of the gears one on the large cam gear and one on the small crank gear. The crank gear dot on the teeth of the gear should point to the 12oclock postion straight up then the one on the cam gear point sin the 6 O clock position so the dots meet each other then you put the chain on the cam gear then around the crank gear then bolt on the cam gear the dots should still be lined up with each other.this puts the engine in the #4 firing postion

94 gmc sierra 4.3 v6 manual, won't turn over, can hear fuel pump start when accessories turned on..won't fire, girl who needs help

The first thing I would check is fuel pressure. This type of fuel injection requires a minimum fuel pressure in order to operate. If fuel pressure is as little as one psi below minimum the vehicle will not start. You can try squirting a couple of shots of carb spray into the air snorkel while somebody cranks the engine over. If the engine starts and then dies you now you fpdeffinetely have a fuel issue. If the engine still won't start check for spark. Let me know what you find. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

1983 oldsmobile cutlass supreme wont start

I had some issues when I changed my olds 307 to a slightly modified olds 350 rocket, it would start fine cold, but hard cranking or slow, painful cranking when hot. Alot of it was the carbureator was allowing too much or too little fuel into the engine. I rebuilt the carb twice. The first time I didn't have a full understanding of float level drop and measuring as far as bending the brass tangs. The second rebuild I finally was able to remove a large part of the hot starting issue, along with retarding the timing as well. But it still isn't gone.

My key switch will turn on but then i cant turn the car off, how hard is it to replace a keyswitch in a 94 olds cutlass sierra

its not easy, there is a screw located under the steering wheel which has to be pulled and everything removed, the screw is located under the turn signal plate at the 1 o-clock position i took everything out and layed it out in order so it could be put back in properly and when you buy the new switch it has small diagrams and instructions

Most likely it's a fuel pump relay. It's on the panel under the hood.

1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass wont start

to start , make sure the battery is fully charged or try to jump start it. If the starter does not work after jump starting, check the wiring to the starter. be careful to label the wires where they go. Check all grounds. try to crank to engine. If it clicks and still does not turn or clicks only one or at all. Replace the starter.
