Radio codes are normally dependent upon the serial number of the radio. You obtain the serial number off the radio and contact the dealer and they can give you the code once you verify that you are indeed the proper owner of the radio.

P1638 Instrument to ECM , CAN (control area network) short circuit failure,this is either the instrument panel at fault or the ECM.Basically its a open wire. between ECM and instrument panel

when you take the front off - you should see a circuit board with cross-head screw. undo these and the battery is on the reverse of the circuit board.

Well I couldn't tell you what's wrong, but I can give you the best thing I can tell you... take it to a mechanic. I would have diagnostics ran on it too. Hope this helps!?

The factory wiring connector hook-up for the Mustang is:

Radio / Power Connector:

Light Green / Yellow - Hot at all times (Fuse 8)
Yellow / Black - Hot in ACC or Run (Fuse 11)
Light Brown / Red - Goes to instrument panel dimming rheostat (Fuse 4)
Red - Ground
White / Purple - Hot in ACC or Run (Fuse 11)

Speaker Connector:

White / Light Green - (+) Right Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Dark Green / Orange - (-) Right Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Brown / Pink - (+) Right Rear Speaker
Pink / Light Brown - (-) Right Rear Speaker
Pink / Light Green - (+) Left Rear Speaker
Tan / Yellow - (-) Left Rear Speaker
Light Brown / White - (+) Left Instrument Panel & Door Speaker
Orange / Light Green - (-) Left Instrument Panel & Door Speaker

Your best bet is to buy a radio install kit and adapt it to the Mustang connector. Hope this information helps.

I have not got a jag yet, I am thinking about buying one I have owned bmws and audis. ALL CARS FROM europe have electircal probs. I dont know why, this prob sounds like a ground prob. I would check the controil mode on the firewall. Bmws always had a fuse there that would short out on the hood and cause the same prob. I just moved the fuse panel/controil down lower and never had the prob again. I know bmw are different but a car is a car.
