Low pressure? Insufficient egr flow? How about plugged ports in the intake. What engine? Do you have a vacuum pump?

Code p0403

EGR is the exhaust gas recirculating valve . It's part of the emission system designed to lower emission of nitrates of oxygen. The vehicles PCM is sensing a problem with the flow or lack of flow thru the EGR valve. The EGR system has several components including the egr valve, erg solenoid, possible EGR temperature sensor and/or a DPFE ( differential pressure feedback sensor) and vacuum hoses. They are located on or near the intake manifold and connects to the exhaust manifold system also.

Take off erg valve and clean. Also take wire brush or used air compressor on its highest setting and blow out erg valve and egr housing areas

Erg flow insufficient

  • The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
  • There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
  • The EGR valve is faulty
  • The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum
It is quite common for people to just replace the EGR valve only to have the OBD code return. The EGR valve is not always the culprit.
  • Use a vacuum pump and pull the EGR valve open while monitoring engine RPM's & DPFE voltage. There should be a noticable difference in RPM's with the EGR open
  • Clean out the EGR valve and/or tubing to remove deposits
  • Check the voltage at the DPFE, compare to specified values (refer to a repair manual for your specific model)
  • Replace the DPFE sensor (with a good quality / OEM one)
  • Replace the EGR valve
The EGR valve is located in the engine compartment. Its should look this

I am getting check engine codes that read EGR Flow CKT RNG/Perform and Engine Oil Pressure Switch CKT and EGR Closed Position/Perform

Replace what ever the codes say needs replaced,,,start with the ERG,,,Than run the scan again, if that engine oil switch comes up after you replace the ERG than replace it. Always clear the codes after you read them.

Change erg valve and oil senser and location of each

before we repalce these can I ask why.

Generally a low flow egr code is not the valve. Its either the DPFE sensor or the passage in the intake for the egr valve is clogged.

If the car struggles at idle and the oil light comes on then the light works and the sensor works.

A stuck open EGR valve could cause a struggling idle so in this case the EGR valve would need to be replaced but not the oil sender.

Erg valve sticking

ERG or EGR valve?. well if you dont mind the check light coming on and the engine to run like **** in the future, you might want to change it, espcially if you live in an emission state, they wont pass you part if failling.

Need location of the erg sensor 2000 ford ranger

The egr valve has two sensors. One is an EGR position sensor which is physically attached to the EGR valve. The other sensor is the DPFE (Delta Pressure Feedback EGR) sensor, commonly called the EGR pressure sensor. It's location varies depending on the engine you have. You can fine this sensor by following the vacuum hose on the EGR valve. It will be with in inches of the EGR valve. The sensor will be black (plastic) or silver (metal), have two or three vacuum ports and an electrical connection on it.

The vacuum pressure sensor is a high failure item on fords. Any Ford parts department will have one in stock, as well as some aftermarket parts stores.

The new sensor may not look exactly the same as the old part, but will have all the hook ups as the old one. You may also need to replace the vacuum hose to the sensor as well
