In replaceing the a/c compressor you need to replace the a/c filter/drier. The drier is located on the right side of engine compartment, next to the radiator and condenser. The drier absorbes moisture out of the a/c system. If lines were open the drier is like a sponge and will **** up all the moisture from outside. Be sure when replaceing the drier that you pull a vacuum on the system to remove air and moisture from system before you refill with freon. By doing this it will correct your problem. Hope this will help you.

Put new AC compressor on, ice cold air for 2 days then blowing cool to warm air. Compressor is working but air not cold. Sometimes will get a small burst of cooler air but doesn't last.

You did'nt mention if you got the system refilled with Refrigerant after the Compressor was replaced or not. If not, that could be the problem.

My 1999 z71 pickup air conditioning is cooling for a few minutes and sometimes longer and then it stops cooling. The fan continues to run but the compressor apparently stops running.

Check the low pressure switch, sit on the accumulator, on passenger side, when a/c compr is not working, wiggle the connector to the low pressure switch, 9 out of ten time's thats the problem, I have seen this many time here at my repair shop. Replace harness connector, auto parts sell this, runs about $15.00 for this, but check first before you buy it.

My 2002 Expedition air conditioner will sometimes blow hot air and others cold air

I would check the following possibilities:
1. Is compressor clutch working? - You need to do this when the ac is blowing hot air only - locate compressor drive pulley on engine - rubber belt wraps around it. Start engine and set to max ac. When the ac is blowing hot air, look at the center of the compressor drive pulley using a good flash light - watch it for a while, it should be spinning with the pulley - this means the compressor is engaged. If not, the compressor is not engaged. If your ac is blowing hot air, then the compressor should be engaged and running (trying to cool). If it is not engaged, then your compressor clutch is probably going out. Could be low voltage to clutch, but more likely the clutch is worn out and only working some of the time. Note: if working normally, the compressor clutch will engage and disengage in cycles- but the air should always be cold. If clutch is bad, compressor would need to be replaced (sold as one unit). This is tricky to diagnose and could take some time - you need to do it when ac is blowing hot air but set to max cooling.

2. Low on refrigerant or refrigerant has moisture in it? If your ac blows cold initially after being off for a while, then heats up, and continues to regularly cycle back and forth between hot and cool air, then the system may be low on refrigerant or the refrigerant may have moisture in it that is freezing and restricting refrigerant flow. An a/c shop can check refrigerant level and even replace refrigerant if moisture is suspected.

Could be other issues, but I would start with these.

Good luck

I have a 1998 Lumina and the air conditioner doesn't blow cool or cold air. It has refridgerant in it. The air compressor kicks on and off, what else could the problem be?

Is the refrigerant full, if not the air will not be cold and sometimes when real low it won't blow cool air at all. Be sure to check the level with a gauge and this will give you a more of an idea.

A sensor would turn the compressor on and off all the time. If it stays running you most likley have a weak compressor. Signs are not cooling at idle and cools better while driving but not cold as it should be. An
ac gauge set will tell if it is bad.
