Question about 1994 Mitsubishi Diamante
I then loosen the base locking ring (2) and take the C spanners and use
it on the spring lock rings (1) to rotate the whole strut in the
direction I want. i.e when you lock the spring rings you twist one right
and the other left so they mesh and lock. So depending on the direction
you want to twist the strut, you use the ring that is locked in the
direction you want to go (so that it twists the whole strut instead of
just unlocking itself.
the 2 bits at the top are for damper adjustment and the two at the bottom are for height adjustment.
c spanners are used just to lock the two together like the two close to number 1.. adjustments are made by hand otherwise you'd be there all day.
the very bottom ring (locking ring) is used to adjust ride height. get a c-spanner on it, and turn it anti-clockwise to unlock it. it may be on very tight, so have a hammer ready to hit the c-spanner in the right direction.
once unlocked, you can twist the body of the coilover up or down.
to lock it, once ur satisfied with height, turn the ring clockwise.
b. the other two rings at the bottom of the spring adjust spring load - allowing u to compress or de-compress the spring as u like.
to loosen, move the top ring anti-clockwise, and the ring just beneath it clockwise. these two rings lock together, so obviously need to move in opposite directions.
to tighten, move top ring clockwise, and the one beneath it anti-clockwise.
very easy to do.

There is no specific position for the spring perch. Just assemble it with the spring an shock absorber, put the screws back and you should be good to go.
