Question about 2001 Nissan Quest
The timing is controlled by the engine computer. You only set the base timing at 15 degrees by loosening the distributor hold down bolt and turning the distributor until the timing light shows on the 15 degree mark on the crank pulley.

Rigoe the points for the timing belt are usually located on the sprokets in conection with marks or dots on the engine block some where around the sprockets that hold the timing belt. Remenber to bring the piston number one to TDC (top dead center), this means you have to locate the piston number one, take the spark plug out and turn the cranshaft (the one with the pulley) by hand until the piston is all the way up. On the distributor the rotor should point to the spark-plug wire number one (you can make a mark outside of the distributor cap where the number one spark-plug wire is pointing so when you take the cap off you can see if the rotor is pointing the same direction). With the timing belt cover off you are going to be able to aling all this points at the exact locacation all together. So we have: Piston number one at TDC, The rotor(enside the distributor cap) pointing to the number one spark-plug wire, and the mark of the sprockets pointing the marks of the engine block( litle dot or dash). If you get all this right you are have done a good job and ready to make a trip you can get all this just by turning the cranshaft by hand with a rachet and a big socket. God bless you.

Removing and replacing the wiper arm is a very technical and delicate affair. If you don't handle with care you may get your windscreen broken. I advice you let an expert do this for you.

You better not be driving your car overheating like that and shutting off on you! It sounds like you've most likely lost all your coolant due to a leak of some sort, and your engine is overheating. I would take the vehicle to a shop make sure you don't have some kind of major coolant leak. They'll also want to do a "block-check", which is a fluid that can detect combustion vapors in the coolant, that would indicate you've blown a head gasket due to overheating. It's very bad for an engine to run without coolant, even for 10 minutes. I'd have the vehicle towed in unless the shop is right around the corner. If you'd like to check your coolant level yourself, make sure the engine is cold or at least the vehicle has been off for an hour. Checking the overflow tank level may not be good enough. You'll have to remove the radiator cap and determine if you've got any coolant in the radiator. If not use either regular pre-mixed green coolant, or if you have non pre-mixed dilute it to a 50/50 ratio coolant and water. I wouldn't continue to drive your van with it acting up like it has until you can get it checked out.

The Quest has a non interference engine meaning that should the belt break the engine would just die without breaking anything. Nissan recommends 105K for changing but that depends on the way the vehicle was driven (driving habits), road conditions etc. If driving on roads for e.g. that are hilly, it labors the engine more thus shortens the lifespan of the belt according to mfg.
