Our 1990 Mallard motorhome won't start, there is power coming from the booster cables but it won't turn over. Is there anything we may be missing?

Check the Starter and starter solenoid. If you remove them, any auto parts store will bench test them for you at no charge. This is assuming you have a "good" battery and good connections. If you dont know take the Battery to be tested also. A bad Battery will make sparks and show 12 to 14 volts on a dc amp meter, but when it has a load put to it will die. Any autoparts store will have a bench test for batteries also. Good luck.

The Mallard Motorhome has chassis and coach disconnect switches located under the dash near the steering wheel. If the red indicator light is not lit on the chassis switch, push the switch until it lights.

The Mallard Motorhome has chassis and coach battery disconnect switches. They are located at the bottom of the dash, near the steering wheel. If the red light above the chassis disconnect is not lit, the engine cannot start. Depress the chassis disconnect switch so that it reconnects and the red light comes on.

Honestly, I need to know the approximate weight of a 1990 Ford Mallard Motorhome and cannot find that information anywhere online.

Hi Jenn:
You could get the exact weight without too much trouble.
If there is a gravel pit nearby (or a highways weigh scale) all you need to do is ask and they will let you drive over their scales.
Ta Da!!!! The exact weight.

If you look at your registration there should be a place where the GVW is recorded.

1978 chev motorhome brakes are hard to push down to stop

If they are standard power brakes, check the vacuum booster. The diaphragm may be broken. If it holds a vacuum it's OK. If the brakes run through the power steering pump, make sure the belt is tight and the steering is smooth.

I have a 1990 ford mallard motor home i installed a new fuel pump but not getting power back to the fuel pump.

You need to troubleshoot the wiring. I would start by checking the fuses. A lot of times when a pump fails it may short to ground and pop the fuse. Also make sure there are no breaks in the wire by checking for power with a test light or meter.

Won't start

Someone would need to check for power at the starter coming from the key switch. You could have a faulty neutral safety switch, key switch, or starter.

How do i jump my 1997 dodge stratus

  • Ensure your Stratus's ignition is in the "Off" position, and turn off anything that uses battery power, such as lights, radio and heater blower. Park the booster car close enough to the dead car that you can connect the jumper cables to both batteries, but make sure the two vehicles aren't touching. Connect one red (+) clamp of the cables to the booster battery's positive terminal. Connect the other red clamp to the Stratus' "Remote Terminal." The terminal is located next to the air filter assembly, and is marked with a "+" and the word "Positive." Dodge uses these remote terminals to reduce the risk of explosion caused by sparks near the battery. Connect one of the black (-) cable clamps to the negative terminal on the booster battery. Connect the other black clamp to the negative "Remote Terminal" on the Stratus, located on the opposite side of the air filter assembly from the positive terminal. It is a marked with a "-" and the word "Negative."Start the booster car, if not already running, and apply slight pressure to the gas pedal to make it idle faster. Wait a few minutes and attempt to start the Stratus. If it cranks a little, but still won't start, continue charging the battery. Once the Stratus starts, leave it running and disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order of the way you attached them.

1992 MALLARD SPORT RV ON OSKOSH CHASSIS - Dodge 360 Front brakes come on by themselves, bleed them, problem continues sometimes in 2 blocks, sometimes in 5-100 miles. Replaced front calipers, pads and...

That sounds to me like a problem with the power brake booster unit or the master cylinder, the wrong master cylinder could be installed, and this could happen if the plunger rod from the vacuum booster unit is too long for the opening on the rear of the master cylinder, that is why any time that a master cylinder is replaced to be certain that the depth of the plunger valve in the rear of the master cylinder is the same as the original part that was removed. Also the brake booster itself could be malfunctioning and activating the brakes with just the engine vacuum.

Volvo 740(1990) i replaced my coil and change the battery, it started, then went 50 yards the it died and now it just turns over, but won`t start, is there anything else it could be? thanks

Many things can cause this on your 740. Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, rpm sensor, MAF sensor, radio suppression relay. I've never seen the coil fail on these era Volvo's, ever. And I've diagnosed at least 50 of these with stalling problems. Check the codes, and when it wont start, check for spark and fuel pressure, you're likely missing one of them.
