Oil light comes on any time your not on the gas

I have a 05 dodge magnum with a lil 2.7 motor.in the last 6 months iv had the oil light come on more and more freqently and now its got to the point that it comes on any time im not on the gaseven coasting down a hill doing 50 mph. Is this a senser that can easily be replaced?. Can this leave me strandedim pretty familier with tools in suchbut if its inside the motor forget it.i have been reading on my magnum forums they have said that if u use fram oil filters n anything but 5W30 oil it leaves a coating on some senser that has a lil wire on it and it fouls out.ive always used fram filters in all of my cars and all types of oil (all within manifactors specs) if any one can lead me to a fix please do.

I will have to disagree with this FORUM page you are talking about and cannot validate how an oil filter will cause a "film"

sounds more like oil pressure issues

to diagnose you MUST actually check oil pressure

Does this only happen when your engine warms up? If so you are wanting to look at the MAP sensor. You should have a code saying the TPS and the MAP sensors are not communicating. Do you have any codes?

I have a 05 Magnum with around 170,000 miles on it. The ABS and ESP lights are on as well as the engine light. The ABS and ESP lights were on for about 4 months and when I slowly went through a 10"...

have a fault scan done by a reputable shop or auto parts store. Anytime lights come on indicates a fault was tracked by OBII. You should get addressed ASAP when lights come on. Driving 4 mos. could've caused major damage. But in this case I think it was a low voltage issue that triggered lights, regardless, get scanned and address the issue correctly.

Oil light comes on any time your not on the gas

I would definately check or replace the sensor. If you replace the sensor and it does the same thing, the oil pump is failing and has probably done some damage to the motor already

2006 magnum oil light

This could mean a lot of things, but first replace the oil sending unit and see if that don`t do the trick,If not cam bearings most likely,or trash on the oil pump screen.Have you changed the oil?Lately?Try that along with oil sending unit replacement. Also if the last time you changed the oil, what weight oil did you use?5w/20 I think is the correct visscosity oil to use,no more than 5w30.

2005 Dodge Magnum w/out hemi stalling

I have a 2005 Magnum and was also having this problem. Stalled out a few times and continued to idle rough and feel like it was going to die when I would slow down. At times it would feel like I would get a hesitation and then a surge. Engine light would go on for a day or so, then go out for a few days. First time I took it in, the dealership told me that it was a broken seal (I don't know where), but they replaced it and it continued to happen. The second time I took it to a mom & pop shop, and they told me that it was the oxygen sensor/altimeter, replaced it (only a $35 part), and I haven't had a problem since. That was 6 months ago. Hope this helps...
