Question about 1994 Pontiac Firebird

1 Answer

What would cause the a/c compressor to kick in for a moment and then out for a minute? The relay checked out ok. If I just pulled the relay will it do anything besides killing the a/c which is never used anyways.

You either have pressure sensor issue or you have low pressure in the system. First thing you need to do is have someone check the system with pressure gauges.

My ac stop working,I checked compressor ,it's ok ,no power to compressor

Some possible causes are the system is low on freon, a faulty compressor clutch, faulty low pressure switch, relay, fuse, or control switch.
Do you have power at the fuse and the relay ?

2003 Hyundai Sante fe A/C fan and rad fan not turning Fast enough while A/C is on but work OK when engine come to temp. ac starts off cold then gets warm after about 5 miles.

make sure radiator and or condensor fins are not restricted with dirt , bugs etc. poor airflow across the condensor. high side pressure could rise too high causing compressor to cycle off and on and not cool the freon properly.not sure what you mean when you say you play with the relay and it comes on. compressor or the fan? pull the relay and look at the female pins and make sure they are not spread open too wide. is the check engine lamp on? sometimes computers will disable ac for some other faults. im not sure if you mean the compressor is turning off and staying off, or just not cooling well due to fan problem. if its turning off it could be a control head problem or the pcm disabling it for another reason. or if you are manipulating the relay then compressor kicks on you may have a bad relay. hope this helps

The acc fuse in my 2002 ford escape keeps clicking Constantly and at night it dims the head lights each time it clicks. Any suggestions on what might cause this

Fuses don't click. It's probably the relay kicking the compressor on. I would get it checked to see level of freon and how much voltage it's drawing. If thats all ok the compressor may be turning hard pulling more voltage which is dimming lights. If it keeps clicking it sounds like its low on freon.

In the engine bay, there is a set of fuses by the battery. Pop open the fuse panel. There should be a set of relays. Check in your manual under "Roadside Emergenies" for the relays and you will find one for the A/C Compressor. The compressor normally checks out fine, it is a common problem that the relay goes bad. Swap the relay with a new one and you should be golden!

I changed the air compressor and the dashboard control panel last year and it has done ok. Now the temp. fan and the compressor fan won't kick in and the air compressor won't kick in also. Checked all...

You say temp fan?If you mean the cooling fans, then the ac is out of freon most likely, the freon has to be in the system, and enough to kick the compressor on,therefore turning the cooling fan on.

This is usually because the refrigerant fluid pressure is too low. You can get an inexpensive R-134a recharge kit at most discount stores or auto part stores.

2000 Caddilac Eldorado Compressor won't kick in

Hi, oK ASSUMING THERE IS THE PROPER AMOUNT OF FREON IN THE SYSTEM (2.0 LBS) THE SYSTEM IS PROBABLY LOGIC LOCKED.THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN THE CADILLACS HVAC CLIMATE CONTROL HEAD GETS CONFUSED,USUALLY AFTER A RECHARGE.HERES WHAT U CAN TRY.REMOVE THE NEG BATTERY CABKE FOR 1 MINUTE,THEN RECONECT IT,START THE CAR AND PUT THE AC ON (60 DEGREES FULL FAN) THAT SHOULD DO THE TRICK HOPEFULLY. THAMKS RAY.

NISSAN 240SX A/C PROBLEM.

HI,
Yeah have the voltage to the compressor checked!..By turning on the A/C when hot (and not working),Add a test wire to the 12v output of the A/C relay, to "boost" the 12v amps/voltage going to the compressor clutch. As soon as the test wire touches a strong 12v source, the clutch immediately kicks in. Remember that 12v already existed on that wire, but a stronger 12v source helped give the clutch the extra kick it needs. Thank you!!..Hope this helps you out buddy!!.. :)
