How to I get the, "low coolant", light to turn off on my 2001 Chevy lumina

have the coolant sensor checked and check the wire to it
they work by having a continuous power supply through the sensor through the coolant to earth to keep the light off
any break in that wire of sensor results as a low coolant because the power can no longer earth out and so the light comes on

Why is the low coolant light flashing?

The low coolant light is operated by a level sensor located in the coolant reservoir itself. If the low coolant light is on and the coolant level is full then wither the sensor is unplugged or the sensor is bad.

After I added coolant to 91 chevy lumina the low coolant light will not go of I wonder why

When filling the coolant system you need to have the car running with radiator cap off and you can also burp the coolant hose while filling the system to remove any air. The system may be full for a while until thermostat opens and sucks the coolant out of radiator which is the perfect time to add more to top it off.

Disconnecting your negative battery cable for 10 minutes will reset the computer and shut off the light.

There is a gurgle sound when I accelerate

A sound like that (without being able to hear it myself) would lead me to believe your antifreeze/coolant is low and you are hearing the air pockets pass through your heater core. Make sure your coolant is full and there is no air trapped in the coolant system which includes your heater. The overflow bottle should be filled to the proper level and free from any leaks. some vehicles require a special procedure for filling and bleeding the air from the engine coolant system so be sure to follow any procedure outlined for your vehicle.

How should i change the coolant in a 1991 chevy lumina 3.1L? it says there are specific procedures and will result in serious engine damage if i dont do it right.

The only difference between this vehicle and most when changing the coolant are two bleeder screws on the top front part of the engine. There is one on each side. When you put the coolant in and first start the car have these screws loosened until the air comes out and it changes to liquid. This is so the cooling system does not air lock.

2000 chevy lumina. Is fan supposed to come on when car started

no fan comes on when engine cold start up .but it will come on when you turn on air conditioning or defrost on .if engine idling a while when temp get 190 degree the fan will kick on.if over heating you got air in system .wait until cools check coolant add more .crank engine let it idle few. minutes when start warming up turn off engine wait a while before removing radiator cap so you wont get scald.add more coolant .crank it again starting warming up turn off engine wait a while .add coolant .keep doing this procedure until your coolant stop dropping off .if you do this more than 6 times you got a leak some where.check crank level for signs.if oil level higher than normal.if everything looking good.when engine cool make sure add coolant to over flow jug cold level mark.
