Question about 2001 Ford Expedition

Open Question

My ford expedition's battery was draining. Also

My ford expedition's battery was draining. Also the running lights an the interior lights came on an would not go out. I traced it down to relay #1 on the inside of the car that was draining the battery. Once removed the battery drain stopped. However, after removing the relay the horn no longer works, the power seats and mirrors no longer work unless the car is off. The GEM and fuse box do not appear to have any water damage. That said .there was a water leak that was coming in because the sun roof out glass was open. It went undescovered for a while because the inner slide was covering up the glass. After learning the glass slide was open and closing it there has been no more leaks. Need an electrical wiring diagram to further trace the problem. Also any ideas on other possible causes.

SOURCE: sun roof on 2003 expedition stuck open?

small cover on older models front center of headliner, motor for roof has a cam that controls operation.I assume fuses were checked..two small switches are riding on this cam.plastic cam messes up switches.you may have to remove headliner to access motor/cam assy.if cables are broken, stuck, assembly may have to be replaced..

SOURCE: i had to remove a fuse in my 1998 ford escort, stop battery drain

first, is your battery definitely good? a failing battery can make a normal draw seem to be a parasitic draw. secondly, do you know how many milliamps are being drawn from the battery while key is out of the car and everything is turned off? if you find that less than 50 mA are being drawn while key off, then this is considered acceptable battery draw. make sure no accessories are plugged into lighter, and remove the bulb from the interior light. if excessive mA are still being drawn now, then your radio (or wiring if not original) is probably the cause

First thing I would do is have someone qualified disconnect the alarm and stereo and start over.

Have replaced battery, starter, solenoid - now 3 weeks later it won't start again. my odometer flashes on and off - could this be my computer going bad?

Check for something draining the battery. It could be something like a switch on an under bonnet light or boot light sticking

2001 expedition 5.4l. wont crank

get a multimeter and test battery output, if more than 13v when you turn key to crank position if below then battery may be faulty and not holding charge, check starter relay and fuse, if ok also check for any parasitic draw from any accesary that might draw down battery when engine not running

03 ford expedition interior lights stay on and door ajar reads

This is a very common problem with Fords. I have one that was doing this as well. What works for most people is pretty much what you have tried - spraying inside the latch all over with WD40 Until it's coming out the bottom of the door. If this fails to work, the switch probably needs replaced. The switch is located inside the door near the latch. It should be pretty easy to find once you have the door panel off. Look for the wires leading to it. A new switch is usually very inexpensive, but may have to be purchased through your local Ford dealer. If you're not comfortable taking the door panel off, a mechanic should be able to do this repair for you in less than an hour of shop time.
