If you are asking if you add refrigerant to the high side or low side, you add it to the low side. the single recharge hose only connects to the low side, which has a smaller connector than the high side. so you can't make a mistake. if the caps are colored red and blue, the blue would be the low side.

Add freon 134a

R12 freon has not been used in production cars sold in the USA since 1994. So your Impala has R134.

I want to know wat kind of ac freon my expadition

It uses the 134 A which is a replacement for freon, but is not freon. It is supposed to be more environmentally friendly, but is not as efficient when it comes to cooling as the old Freon 12. It is illegal in the US for you to have freon in your possession, only authorized shops are allowed to have it and install it.

The air conditioning doesnt work it just blows hot air even with the ac on. i dont know whats wrong with it if everything needs to be replaced or just something simple. i know nothing about cars

What I would try first is recharge the a/s system, your car came with R12 freon, that type of freon is impossible to get these days, so you will need a retro fit kit to convert it to 134A freon, the kit will have two 134a fittings that screw on to your R12 port, so that the 134a recharge hose will go on, the low side will be the one your add freon through, it will be the thinker hose of the two, the thin one is the high side stay away from that one, you will also need one can of freon (134a), if it works, it might work for a while till the freon leaks out again, then you will have to take it it for repair, but this way you know it's just a leak and every thing else works.Good luck, let me know if I can be of more help.

AC has freon (134a) pressure is good. Compressor

Have a code reader or scanner put on the car to erase all codes, this should reset the ac system circuit. Also check the low side clutch cycle switch,it may be the problem.

My 94' 940 volvo AC is not cooling. The fan turns on, no leak, great coolant pressure. When car sits and runs, the ac cooling pipe next to the condensor is ice cold. After driving it for 15 min, its warm...

if the line to the condenser ices back at that point, the system either has too much freon in it or not enough. its 134a refrigerant. if you add freon when its really hot outside, the pressures will be a little higher than normal. do not overcharge the system, since freon really doesn't go bad, it can get contaminated with moisture, and degrade the system. you need to have it dumped out and pulled into a vaccuum and see if it holds 30 inches of vaccuum. vaccuum boils out moisture in the system. check the drier/accumulator at the same time. if it has a sightglass on it , it will change color if there is moisture in the system.

My ac blow out hot air and i want to put freon in my self and want to know how

Adding freon will not correct the problem. If you need to add freon, you have a leak, and you have moisture in the system, the leak should be located, mositure removed, then freon added. But to answer your question. Open the hood on, the left side you will see a round object called a dryer, you will see two pipes coming from it, one at the top and one at the bottom. The smaller is the high side, the larger is the low side. Obtain a can of freon either R-22 or 134a with an adapter for installing the freon. Turn the engine on, turn the AC to high. Add the freon to the ac using the low side.

Adding freon to ac system

no that is the high side connection the low side should be between the compressor and the firewall thats where it will be sucked in, connect to the high side and the can of 134a can explode in your hand
