Remote door lock/unlock failure. : Honda Accord Common

Why does my nissan maxima door locks unlock themselves and there is a clickng sound

It sounds like there is an electrical fault with the Remote locking circuit. When you lock the vehicle, without seeing the schematic electrical drawing, there is a relay that will operate to lock the doors. This applies power to the small motors installed within the doors, that operate the locks open/close (Lock/Unlock). Generally there is an electrical componet that by passes the relay once the doors are locked so it doesnt burn out, e.g Capacior. With that in mind, if this component is shorting out, power will be applied and/ or released from the holding circuit which in turn, will operate the vehicles locking mechanism.
Best way forward
1. If you have a Gregorys manual, available from Super Cheap Auto for under $50, it will have the Electrical circuit drawing for the Door locks, if it's standard fit to the path finder. You will be able then, with the use of a Multi meter, to check out where power is getting to or not (12V dc).

2. If not give the Auto electrician $50 to fix.

As the Nissian is 24 years old, I would be looking for a electrical component failure.

I hope this helps you out mate,
Stevie C.

1995 ford futura doors wont lock

Inside the door is an electric motor that pulls the door lock down to the locked position, either the rod has come off to the door latch from the door lock motor or the motor has failed. Remove the door panel and check it for power when the button is pressed for the power locks, if it gets power then it is most likely the motor that is the problem.

Replace passengers side rear electronic door lock

    • Remove the two Phillips screws in the arm rest and the singular screw holding the cover in front of the door handle. Remove the outside mirror cover by prying it off with the common screwdriver.
    • 2Remove the door panel by inserting the common screwdriver in between the door panel and the door. Slide the screwdriver along the outside circumference of the door and pry the trim fasteners out of their recess.
    • 3
    • Remove the door panel and disconnect the electrical connectors to the switches.
Remove the electrical connector from the power door lock through the access panel in the door.
    • 4Remove the power lock mechanism located below the door latch. The power lock mechanism is in a bracket attached to the back-side of the door below the door striker. The door lock is snapped into its bracket with the rubber bushings. It has a vertical rod running from the door lock to the door latch. Unsnap the door lock and then lift it up and turn it so the rod can be removed from the door latch.
    • 5Install the door lock and door panel in reverse order of removal

Power door locks have gotten weak. do they need to be lubricated? Are the door locks electrical or are they run from the engine vacuum.

The door locks are electric. This could be from a lack of lube but more likely corosion of or dirt in the switches or ground path. Remember all the door lock switches rely on the main switch.
