Question about 2000 Plymouth Voyager

1 Answer

Sometimes, not all the time, The engine will stop. It will start right back up and then come out of it, but when it stops while turning, I lose power steering etc. I will probably do this 1 or 2 times throughout the day.

Do you notice any lights on the dash BEFORE the engine dies?

The most likely concern is an intermittent open in the CKP (Crank Shaft Position) sensor circuit

This will not set a code because the computer does not understand that you are not turning off the engine... it just sees that the engine is off!

Another possibility is an intermittent loss of power or ground to the car computer(s)
again, generally, this will not set any codes either

Therefore, you will have to have a technician with a scan tool installed and recording vehicle data during the concern to diagnose your concern... tough and time consuming unless you can get a close idea as to when the concern will duplicate

No lights come on. And it will not display check engine light either. Quite a few times it will die when I go out to start the engine in the morning. Then I will restart it and rev it up a little and the problem goes away until out of the blue it might do it while I am driving. It always happens when I take my foot off the excellerator and will just lose power.

What does the code P2112 mean?

This Code means the throttle actuator control is stuck closed. Clean the Butterfly flap in the air horn assembly.
Sometimes you get this warning when the Butterfly flap position does not match what the computer thinks it is set for. But since you are losing power, you may be losing control of the throttle actuator. Check connectors, clean the airhorn. Also check your TPS connector.

I have a 2005 pontiac grand am my service verhicle soon light is on and my vehicle will start surging while im driving down the road then my light bstarts flashing and my car will lose power and die most...

Yes thier both right you just need to show up at any auto parts store and ask them to scan your car. They don't mcharfge for this service as they hope to sell you the parts to fix it with. If the check engine light has been on with the engine running theirs definatly a troble code staored in the computer and I need to know the numbers of these codes and if thier in the system more than once and I need to know if they will clear and then if just running the engine fore a minute they come back or not. Anything can do what you said but the codes will put you in the right direction. Sounds like the coolant temperture senser goes open and the computer ( thinks) the engine is cold and throws lots of fuel and then it comes back on and the car straightens back up. The senser code will be th=in the computer if the senser or it's wiring are bad.

Driving down the highway engine just stops and it loses all power. Pulled over and it started right back up. This has now happened several times?

Sometimes your car will just plain stop running if you have a faulty coil wire. I had this problem before where it didn't matter what time of day or the weather, it turned out to be a coil wire. Good luck!

WHILE OPERATING REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHTS COME ON AND CAR LOSES POWER DOES THIS AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND NO SET PATTERN

pay more attention to when it happens, turning, taking off from a stop, is the road wet or slippery.

if the road is slippery and you take off from a stop or make a turn while acellerating on wet road the right tire will start to spin on the slippery surface, when this happens the computer will sense the slipping and reduce the engine power just long enough to re-gain control and goes back to normal.
