You need to repalce the idle control valve. PCV valve - also change your air and fuel filter.

let me know if this does not work, and I will offer further options. This should do the trick though.

when the engine light comes on but goes off by itself its called a soft code it means its not stored in the computer so its harder to retrieve if you can scan it when the light is on it would help. the mafs is a problem that alot of these cars had also the tps. you need to test your alternator at idle it should be putting out about 13.6 volts

Sputtering engine while in passing gear

At 150000 miles the plugs start to fail under hard acceleration the higher compression blows out the spark before it ignites the fuel. Random cylinder misfire causes the check engine light to come on. change the plugs!

Toyota Rav 4 1997 .Check engine comes on .Codes are P0301,302,303,304116 . What to do.

The engine coolant temperature is high. Your other Codes are for missing cylinders on cylinder 1,2,3,and 4. Get the Codes cleared and start over. Changing the plugs and wires, etc could have generated the missing cylinder Codes.

Autozone,Advance, and Oreilys will scan for free.

Check your engine for an IDLE SPEED CONTROL SOLENOID, which may be in the intake. Or a fuel pressure regulator.

A lot of times people work on the spark side and forget the fuel injectors. They can cause a miss.

Hi, my toyota has started skipping on # 2 cylinder. I have replaced the wires and plugs and checked the compression and it was good. It is getting fire to the plug. When riding along it will go a few miles...

Hello you will need to have the check engine light checked with a OBD2 engine scan to retrieve the engines fault that causes this missing and do the necessary repairs.assuming and guessing it could be one of ten switches my guess is good as yours. Most garages usual charge $25.00 up to $75.00 for this scan this is the best most efficient way and most inexpensive.

Engine runs rough after about ten minutes /idles really low

Just trowing some suggestions out there, but, I would check the idle air control valve (solenoid) or the throttle position sensor. If they check out then my last guess would be the map sensor or the vaccuum to the map sensor. Hope I was able to help. Best wishes.

Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 litre petrol. Starts from cold (stood overnight). Twelve minute drive to work - slowing down at lights etc engine stalls constantly. No problem re-starting. Pull into a layby...

Same problem for me. The car would idle at about 2500 when started from cold and about 3 miles on would not idle at all, resulting in the revs dropping off when changing gear or stopping. Also rather jerky in top gear unless thrashed - numerous trips to the garage for air idle valve, injectors etc. but still a problem! Have just found out that GVs are a bit prone to carbon build up in the throttle body - mine was almost blocked - it now feels like a different car.

Sudden loss of power while driving

One thing you should notice that could tell you if the the engine is misfiring is that the check engine light will flash. If it dose it is saying you have a misfire in either one or more cylinders. If the check engine light dose not flash then it could be more of a fuel pump related issue. but as I said 1st thing would be to check the code... then i could tell you whats going on. good luck

Missfire

Locate you computer (right front kick panel) and tap on it with a pen while the car idles... Also flex it back and forth with your hands to see if the car runs rough or quits... You may need a new one.
