If there is still resistance when you pull the lever then the cable is still connected.Try having someone with a open hand slap on the hood while you pull the lever.Try the corners and work your way to the center. If you do get it open lube all the latch parts.Well hope this helps and good luck.

1993 Park Avenue-trunk will latch but not close tight. Several years ago had motor disconnected so you just slam truck and not worry. Now the metal latch-catch is up high and trunk will not shut tight. ...

Find another 91-95 Park Avenue at your local salvage yard...or call on line or contact to reach on-line salvage yards...you can purchase just the latch...(as you know it is designed to be an automatic pull-down...This is an easy switch out...the latch will be $20-45. I have one at home:) Hope this helps.

The hood on my 1993 bruick wont open

most likely a stretched cable or frozen latch assembly. The handle for your hood release has a cable behind it. Pull the cable off of the handle and use pliers to pull on it. If the hood opens, you need a new cable. If it doesnt, u need a new latch.

Hood Latch no longer works, how can I open my hood?

Short of callin in Harry Houdine, here is what I have done.
Have some one keep pulling the hood release while you stick the straw on a can of WD 40 ubder the crack in front of the hood latch. This may free something up and unlatch it.
Hopefully the cable isn't broke in a place where you can not det a pair of pliers onto to pull the latch.
Sometimes if you have an assiatant keep the release latch pulled, while you pull up wit force on the hood it might open if its an adjustment problem.

Good luck

I drive a 1991 Buick Park Avenue and I can't get the hood to open on my car. It overheated yesterday and I need to pop the hood to see the problem, but the hood won't come up. I tried the release lever...

I would have someone hold the hood release latch while bumping the front of the hood to try to bump the hood loose. Once opened, be sure to lubricate the hood latch under the hood and also lubericate the safety latch as well to prevent this in the future. Use white lithium grease to lube all latches. Be sure to work the latch a couple dozen times after lubricating a few times before closing the hood to ensure it is working properly.

Front damage, inside cable to open hood snapped from latch. latch damaged and can't open hood. Know of any way to pop the hood? 1991 park avenue

Usually a strong coat hanger will snag the lug the cable attaches too. You will need to bend a 3/8 end J hook from the coat hanger and snag it from the drivers side of the latch to pull on this lug horizontally
' If the hood is trashed just zip a hole into the hood were that latch is located with a disc grinder and a cut off wheel instead

Hood latch on 1996 park avenue seized

Sorry thundergod but people put to much stock in WD 40 it to me is just a fast evaporating lube. If the hood is frozen as a result of rust I think it is called PB works much better. On my 91 buick I was able to access the latches better after taking the front grill off. It is attached with tork screws known to some as star screws. this still doesn't offer total access but you have a better chance at working with it. Also had to use 2 people to open hood because hood spring was meeting header. took some rocking hood while the other person pulled the latch repeatedly. But you see an elk damaged my front end so you may not have the same issue.

1996 Buick Park Avenue hood latch seized cannot open hood

Most likely the CABLE is seized. Unless the latch is damaged , should be movable, Either on a lift, or by laying on your back, reach your arm up behind the front grille, and manually move the latch. Not hard to do. Hope this helps

The hood latch on my 1991 buick park avenue is broken and I need to open the hood to change my oil... how do I open the hood

You will have to get under the car , and reach up behind the front grille as far up as the hood latch, and MANUALLY release it. It's tricky but doable. I've done it many times. Hope this helps
